I am currently building a 1uz and removing all the efi. I have installed twin Honda Prelude distributors running off the front of the cams.

My question is what carburetors should I run. I was thinking of IDA Webbers but I have been advised that two duel barrel Holleys would do a better job.
I can't see how.

What do you guys think?

The IDA/IDF's would be better in total HP and tunability.

The 4 barrels would be better for a road car and a LOT easier to setup and keep tuned.

personally i'd choose the 2 duel throats mainly for simlicity plus the look, im very interested in the dizzy set up, for an LPG set up i'm half interested in if you have time could you eleborate a little please

The stock lower manifold lends itself to 4 IDA's just like ITB's. I'd 40mm would be big enough.

Should be easy enough to fab.

Getting it tuned is no different to dyno tuning any engine. Find a good Webber man and let him sort it out.

You would get the look, the sound (nothing better than the sound a a Webber sucking air) and the performance/economy you won't get from a couple of boring dual barrell Holleys.

Let me know if you're chasing Webbers as I have a mate who buys them from all over the world and re-sells them.

I have decided to go with 4x2 barrel down draft webbers taken off XF Falcons. Hopefully it won't be overkill. I have already fabricated the manifolds.
This motor is just something to play with at the moment with thoughts of installing it into a 1971 GT Capri. Who knows, I might just build the motor and get rid of it.

They are going to be VERY big, the Falcon is a 250 cubic inch engine.

4 x Escort carbs might be better, although the linkage would be a nightmare.

Honestly if you cannot do the IDF's you are probably better off with a decent sized 4 Barrel(s), say an 850CFM or a pair of 465's.

i own XFs and other than the Jetting i dont think they will be too big at all, they have very small venturies and the falcons only rev to around 4500rpm. the ting is that they are two stage, one barrel opens 3/4 before the other starts opening, the 2litre cortina carbys have both openining at the same time though but i dont know much about them exept i had one fitted to a VW golf 1.5L and it was great.

The lower to upper manifold flanges are very close to Weber DCNF, not IDA/IDF.
If you're going to be using hairy camshafts, the individual runner/tb will be better on the street, I'd try a single Holley, four barrel 390cfm, if using stock cams.
