1UZ - what to look for when purchasing?

Hi all,

I will be taking a look at a few LS400 higher mileage donor cars this weekend. Since I don't care much about the rest of the car, I was wondering if there what to look for in terms of engine condition. I want to make sure I pick a solid base.

In short, are there any steps to follow when diagnosing the health of the engine? On one of the cars, the owner said that it takes a few cranks before the engine turns over. Sounds like a vacuum leak, what are your thoughts?
