1UZ Vs. 3UZFE Crank

Got a chance to put the two cranks side by side. I have had a chance to weight them yet, but 1uzfe is definitely heavier. Please refer to pictures below. The 1uzfe has larger counter weight. The 3uz has smaller counter weight and it has ability to rev faster and perhaps rev higher. However, it would be harder to balance. The first picture comparing the two crank side by side. Left is 3uzfe and right is 1uzfe. Picture number 2 is the 3uzfe. Picture number 3 is 1uzfe crank at the same camera setting. U can see the differences between the two cranks.

Counter weights are smaller because the weight of the rods/piston assembly is less then the 1st gen 1uz. It would be more expensive to balance if your aftermarket rotating assembly is heavier then OEM.

Looks like the 1UZ crank is nitrided and the 3UZ is not, look at the difference in the amount of surface rust.
