One option for a strut brace is to take it back to the firewall. Whilst you will be creating a rectangle with a strut brace it can still push out of square. If you go back to the firewall with a central mount it add heaps of bend resistance.

On you dash ends I recently did the same with a Nissan Pulsar (Almera) dash into a Suzuki MightyBoy and it was narrowed 150mm (6").

I used an old Pulsar (Almera) dash and cut new ends for the chopped dash form the old one and welded them together with one of those heated wire gizmos.

Thanks for the write up! I am gathering info and ideas for my 1UZFE swap into my 1979 Toyota P.U. I hope your project is still moving forward or finished. I would love to see more progress pics.
I will try to post a pic or several. It is a custom dually that was built to pull a custom 5th wheel camper. It was my Dad’s and when he died I inherited it. I am going to make it more “me” but try to keep some of “him” in it. We shall see…..
