Hello there Lextreme forums!
As you can guess by the title of this thread, I have a 2007 Lexus GX 470 that I’m looking to do some power modifications too. My personal goal for the car is to eventually have it be a raptor killer. I read on Club Lexus that someone manufactures CAMs that if paired with the right headers (in this case Doug Thorley long tube) that I could make around 75 more HP. I contacted the forum master (sorry I’m new to this) and he said to tag @gloverman, but I’m willing to consider any suggestions. I don’t have a crazy budget (like 6k for the URD super charger kit, that’s wayyyy to much) but yeah anyways, thank y’all!

Stock ecu can be remapped for slightly more torque, and better response of engine and a/t . That's best improvement you can have for the value but the improvement is limited. Serious power is about cams and exhaust and/or supercharger, with individual tune which is costly and seriously, I would rather consider selling the car and getting a different one.

you may want to consider my setup. Brushless motor....t76 turbo.....ESC.......FMU......trunk mounted battery bank......WOT switch......RPM switch......24V alternator charger for battery bank.Just be careful because this setup will easily exceed your injector capabilty

The best you can do without a supercharger is the following. I know because I did it. I have a 2007 LX470, same engine and trans as GX470. Listed in order of improvement.

1. E85 conversion. I have an A.P.E. Flex Fuel kit on mine, plug and play. Then you can run E85 instead of Premium gas, gain some power over regular gas if you run that.

2. Transmission valve body. Easy to install and speeds up the shifts. My favorite mod.

3. Doug Thorley or other headers

4. 3" cat back exhaust. 2.5" is not big enough.

5. ECU tune

I did all this stuff and then I got a SC.

Supercharger is the ultimate. The VVTI engine totally wakes up with a blower. I have the Elate blower and my truck runs down Raptors. You will spend 3x the cost of a SC trying to make half the power of a SC.

Video of my truck at 6 psi below . Now I am running a 70mm pulley and 7.4psi. Feels like 400hp/450tq. Had it for 50k miles, I will dyno it eventually.

I looked at cams but by the time you get everything done it's more than the cost of a SC and is way more labor.
