What are the forged rods and piston options out there?

I've only heard all of this from my machinist, I guess he could be full of sh*t but whatever. I'll go ask him again to see if he has any concrete evidence of this, but after looking at pictures most appear very similar if not the same. eagle, manle, scat and even cosworth all appear to be from...

What are the forged rods and piston options out there?

I only quickly scanned through this thread so I'm only 75% sure no one mentioned the fact that just about every piston is made by the same foundry. IIRC there's only about 3 foundrys in the world that make forged pistons/rod blanks so its up to he manufacturer of the piston (wiseco, JE, CP...

    Celsior/LS400 Exhaust Idea

I've taken off the middle mufflers and just run the back ones. Its still pretty quiet, you can definately hear it when I get on it though.

    Alcohol compatable injectors?

I did the 180 after weighing all the benifits of alcohol compared with the fact that I just don't have the money to do rebuilds as often as it will need it. If California wasn't a couple thousand miles away i'd be all for it, but $4 a gallon of gas is a bit much to drive out there. I just...

Car of Choice for 1UZFE Swap

Currently I'm trying to stuff a 1uz in a 1200 coupe, shooting for a total weight of around 1900 lbs after it is back halfed. I'll post up some pics later in the project when I start trying to fit the engine, most of my time right now is going towards getting rid of rust and making sure the body...

    Alcohol compatable injectors?

I fail to see how cyl washing is an issue, stoich should be a 100% complete burn (only ideally), Top Fuel is a different story since they run god awful rich, mechanical fuel injection isn't nearly what electronic can do. I have a little experiance with E85, although I wasn't too happy with it...

    Alcohol compatable injectors?

I'm well aware of the issues of methanol chewing up gas tanks/lines/pumps etc... but I didn't know if the injectors would suffer the same fate. The only reason I want to run methanol is for the sheer fact that i'll be running stupid high compression 13-15:1. This is a drag race car only and...

    Alcohol compatable injectors?

Does anyone know if metanol will eat up a standard set of injectors? I'm 95% sure it will chew up some stuff like the solenoids inside, or where the pintle seals up against the body. Also, if someone knows how to size injectors for alcohol i'm looking at making about 650hp on the high side...

A341E ro A340E Transmission Upgrade Repair Kit

IPT has built transmissions holding more power than your asking for at a price of about $3000. I know you are looking to rebuild it, possibly yourself, but some things are best left up to the pro's. I've messed with a few auto trannys before in my life and just basing off an educated guess, the...

    cams and gears

On Kelford's website they say they are working on the anti lash gear for the exhaust and the exposed cam gears on the intake. So possibly in the near future they'll have them available. Since we are on the topic of cams and valvetrains from Kelford does anyone have a price on their shim under...

    NA Dyno 2000 Projection

It actually will do dynamic compression, look in the tables for the dyno runs and you'll see BMEP as a number, it shouldn't go above 200psi or so. thanks for the .cam and .flw files btw

Bellhousing adapter for th350/400 and powerglide

wow, had no idea the flexplate was actually supposed to flex..... JW here sells billet aluminum flexplates........ they probably don't flex too much. I have access to a full machine shop and a decent cnc mill that my friend can program, its quite possible for me to make my own new flex plate...

Bellhousing adapter for th350/400 and powerglide

I've been doing a little research for a swap project i'm planning on a mitsubishi starion with a 1uz and it looks like castlemain rod shop already sells an adapter plate for the Th350/400 and powerglide. I'm not too sure what flexplate you would use, possibly the stock one just redrilled for...

Do you have any pictures of this setup, or is the setup you are talking about the single turbo project you have on your website?

    Dumping a LS400 in Aus

JIC Magic makes a nice coilover setup, shouldn't be too hard to get in Australia, although a little expensive. Also, quite a few companies make standard style (non adjustable) drop springs for it such as tanabe, eibach, intrax, and a few others I can't think of right now. I would think the...

    Cats?

I was curious to see if anyone knew the laws associated with moving catalytic converters on cars that are street driven in the US. I am seriously considering a large single turbo for my LS400 and it would be easiest if I could place both cats on one side and just have a single downpipe split...

Air to Air or Water to Air (Round 1)

well... I think you are forgeting about how the m90's were set up on the thunderbird supercoupes here in the US. They had a discharge pipe that went into a intercooler and then back into the intake manifold, If I can find a pic later on I'll post it. The point is, even with a positive...

Air to Air or Water to Air (Round 1)

Thanks verylost for backing me up as far as an engineering perspective goes. I'm currently a 2nd year mechanical engineering student. I havn't taken any real thermodynamics courses yet, but I have read enough and talked with enough major tuners to understand the issues with water to air.

Air to Air or Water to Air (Round 1)

Actually lextreme its just a turbocharged (very old and not efficient) piston engine. It looks like just an air to air intercooler, probably because at some of the altitudes/conditions those planes fly in the water would freeze, and I'm pretty sure ethelene glycol (antifreeze) technology wasn't...
