it'd be easier to swap internals i think and keep the block/head combo. VVT-I is not hell, but the lightweight pistons and rods are weak that's true.

1UZ is not that hard to work on. removing acessories is a piece of cake. doing a tune-up is about a 1.5 hour job because you need to remove the air tube between the box and tb. it's not a 4 cylinders but i bet it's easier to work on than a FWD V6

your car might not put 15 TOP whp but in the overall rev range you might get a 15WHP boost.
