cheers, the gearbox should be all good. Sakers and some home-built/kit cars run these boxes no worries. its the vw boys who have to mess with them to make them spin the right way.
good to hear you caught wellington on a good day, it certainly is a nice place to be when the sun is shining and...
haha cheers! yeah fair enough welding with my index finger, but only tightening things with my fingers might lead to disaster... ;)

haha cheers, but im just doin this for a laugh. its my first minitruck project and my flatmate's first go at editing, so we're still getting a feel for it.
1uz in a van would be fun! i bet it surprises some evo drivers! haha
thanks for the offer to help, if i need some extra hands ill...
Hi,
Has anyone adapted (or know of someone who has) a wrx gearbox to the 1uz? I'm talking about the 5 speed version, not the 6 speed btw. (and yes, I'm very aware of how weak they are compared to other transaxle options).
Cheers
id go the zr1 purely because the gtr would be less fun to drive. give me rwd supecharged v8 anyday, over something that sticks like the proverbial to a blanket lol. even if the gtr is faster, who cares. when was the last time you were racing round the nurbergring?
3sgte are a good motor, but you'd want to hunt down one out of a lexus is200 (toyota altezza). firstly for the 6 speed box, secondly for the rwd sump and better oil pickups (fwd motors arent designed to mount FR, so on hard cornering may get oil surge). obviously dry sump is an option, but more...
i imagine you're going to need a recessed firewall and a new trans tunnel, not to mention a full rear end upgrade. i would be searching datto 1600 forums, as no doubt this has been done by plenty of guys (the driveline upgrade, not the 1uz). you'll also want to seam weld the chassis and/or put a...
yeah i know, its pretty close. iv been looking into shipping it over maybe too, i can have it legally on the road as long as its registered in nz, for in oz for up to a year. i dont think it would get rego otherwise...
and yea eastbourne. nice place it is.
i finally sorted my hydraulic clutch release bearing woes (by fully replacing the setup, $$$$ bugger...) and got the little old e21 bmw going and took it for a drive. sad thing is this this was 12 hours before flying to oz to live for a year or two, so back into storage she goes. the back end...
minilites look good on minis. they dont call them supralites for a reason lol. sorry just my opinion. i think supras look good with some nice big wide dished rims, like Work wheels from japan. different strokes for different folks i guess.
if you crash into someone and your insurance company sees undisclosed mods, they will quite quickly leave you to pay the bill. if you're gonna lie to them, you may as well not bother paying the insurance premium.
