So I got bored tonight right..... (1.4meg worth of pics)

I'm glad i'm not the only one that had a dirty engine/gearbox - but I would have to say that I think I win in the dirty engine contest :( I also have to say that's not a bad effort for a sunday! :) I have learnt that how ever long you think it will take you to do something - triple that and...

    1UZFE/2UZFE into a 2nd Gen 4Runner (U.S.)

Cebby, I'll have to be honest and say that I didnt do the swap myself as I had never torn down and auto before. I paid someone to do it, but it is simply changing the 2WD output shaft with the 4WD output shaft and bolting the t'case on. From mem, one hole needs to be tapped out, but other than...

    1UZ into Surf

I have been answering some questions in the thread: 1UZFE/2UZFE into a 2nd Gen 4Runner (U.S.) read that one for more info, but basically, it's the A341E box, modified to take the A340F chain t'case. There's pic and info in that thread.

    1UZFE/2UZFE into a 2nd Gen 4Runner (U.S.)

Dont quote me on this ( I hope someone can help me out) the early? A340F/H had 2 solenoids and the A341E has 4 solenoids? That's why I chose to mod the crown box cos - A. I had it and B. I def know it would work with the ECU. Dont know if you know but anyway - the t'case off A340F is chain...

    1UZFE/2UZFE into a 2nd Gen 4Runner (U.S.)

I dont know if you have read my other posts, but I too have used an auto, but I used the A341E out of the crown cut, changed the output shaft and have the A340F transfer case bolted to it. If i'm not mistaken, the auto (from A340f) has a different number a solenoids? This way you can use the...

    Front v's Mid sump

I was told there was a very slight difference? What do you mean use them? Do you want me to email them to you? Otherwise, dont care what you do with them. That's why I posted them on this site - to help people out as so many have helped me! Also note the baffle plates and pick-ups in the top...

    EFI surge tanks

Thanks for that, will buy the trading post on thurs when it comes out. It was a thought, but these people must buy them from somewhere? (Or are most of them manufactured?) In my case, I am going from a diesel to a petrol injected motor, hence the need for a surge tank. The most common place...

    engine mounts 1uz-hilux

Thought that I would put my 2 cents worth in. Here's mine, drivers side only. It is a LN61, with a 2" body lift (and yes i know a bolt is missing - too lazy to walk upstairs and get it!). If I were using someone elses cad drawings of engine mounts, I would make them out of cardboard first and...

    Front v's Mid sump

Ok, finally got around to taking some pictures of a front sump (celsior I think) versus the mid sump of the crown. If i'm not mistaken, the LS400 sump is slightly more 'front' than the celsior? (could be the other way around?) I said that I would so this a while ago, but hey timelines get by...

    1uz into VN

If you are that serious about the swap, then talk to Scott at Venom. He is a member of this site (ph - 3208 3224). I know he has done a VN, VP and about to do a VS if I remember correctly. I've seen the VP in his shed an looks a very neat swap. He's really helpful and a wealth of...

A340E - to hilux gear drive t-case adpator

As always, info comes too late. I purchased an input shaft and surf sump from Transwreck in Springwoodish area. They are automatic gearbox dismantlers (spelling?) and they have parts for EVERY type of auto. Again, bit late but also usefull for others. Cheers. PS. I paid $300 for an...

My bad!! I got some stiches in my back so I cant crawl around on the ground. When I can i'll get some photos of the sumps side by side and also mounted on the engine to show you where they are in relation to the diff/steering. Sorry for the delay. Cheers

    Some 1uz swap questions

The rear sump would sit right on top of the diff and the mid sump sits the rear of the sump on the front of the diff. The front sump clears the diff and almost clears the steering - only the last 50mm or so sits on the steering. The reason for the body lift is it allows you to sit the engine...

    Some 1uz swap questions

Read the post of 1UZFE in V6 4RUNNER by Dave. Basically you'll need a Celsior (front sump) and 2" body lift to eliminate the need to modify the sump. You will need to relocate the steering dampener though. I'm currently going through the same (almost) swap and I can say this is the easiest...

Both the Celsiour and the LS/SC400 are front sump, but the LS/SC are slighty more forward than the Celsiour - if that makes sence? I have a pic of both the Crown (mid) and Celsiour sump side by side on the floor. I can post it tomorrow if anyone is interested?

Picked up my front sump last night, and as a quick comparison (on the floor) the front of the lower sump of the mid sump was in the same place as the rear of the front sump - if that makes sense. When the motor is in, the steering arm is right in the middle of the sump (mid sump). Therefor...
