I'm running a BEGI FMU on my Turbo Q45. It worked out great with the blow-thru MAF setup. It's adjustable so you can play around with it and get a nice a/f ratio under boost. My stock injectors are 370cc so all I needed was just a bit of extra fuel under full throttle which the FMU helped out...

Some more pics: THE VH45DE HAS PISTON OIL SPRAYERS BUILT INTO THE CONNECTING RODS. YOU CAN SEE THE OIL SPRAYER HOLE IN THIS PIC.

The VH is definitely bigger than the 1UZ which makes it kinda hard to use for a lot of swaps. As far as weight, it is over 500 lbs with all accessories. The block is aluminum but all the cross bracing makes it heavy. I think it is a perfect candidate for boost applications. Change out the rods...

The VH45 is rated at 278 by Nissan but the actual output is more. Most estimates are somewhere closer to 300. The reason for Nissan claiming a lower hp was the "Gentleman's Agreement" between the Japanese auto manufacturers and the Japanese government which placed a 280 hp limit on engines.

I'm running 6 psi on my engine without any problems. It's putting out somewhere around 420 hp. One of the guys on my site is running 8 psi on his Q45 and again no problems. The only reason for failure of the VH45DE at 350-400 whp would be bad tuning or a defect in the engine.

I found some posts on the internet where someone says the VH45 has a weak bottom end but I can't see why they would think so. The engine has 6 bolt mains, plus a ladder frame that ties in all the bearing caps. The crank is a non-twist forged unit with plenty of overlap and the rods are also...

This was a spare engine that I bought a while back. There really wasn't anything wrong with it other than the fact the oil wasn't changed like it should have been. I didn't have a place to store it anymore so I decided to just disassemble it.
