I am currently thinking up project ideas and I have a million and1 questions ( ive been searching already..) ; would it be legal to stick a 1uzfe into an EF Falcon, would I need to run it on gas? If it needs gas, is this hard? Does anyone have templates for engine mounts ( ie. deankdx)? Could I hook it up to a T5 and is there an inexpensive solution to wiring? ( i.e. not to use stand-alone computer). I also want to turbocharge it in the long run; what would be the cheapest way to do this/ would the stock internals handle it?
Thanks in advance.

Might want to do some searching on the turbocharger system; and about legality you dont have a location in your profile so we don't know. Obviously you are from Australia though or you wouldnt be talking about Falcons since they don't have them in the states or atleast not called that? Dellow in Aus might make a bellhousing from 1uz to t5 but I cant seem to find one on the castlemaine rod shop list.

From what I know the 1UZ swap is legal and turbocharging it would also be legal.

The 1UZ will pass EPA on the stock ECU. You may be forced to have it tested but if you use the stock ECU, O2 sensors and cats you'll pass easy.

Most States say the engine must be newer than the vehicle so you'll need a 1993 on 1UZ.

Aftermarket ECUs are plentiful and start at around $1,000 and run out to $3,000.

Have a read of the ECU section there are some interesting affordable deveopments going on in the aftermarket.

Almost any aftermarket ECU will do a fair job of running a blown 1UZ.

Another option for you is to PM owners of turbo'd 1UZ and the guys with UZs in Falcons. Most will be happy to assist.

Hey!

There is a few of us with 1UZ Falcons...

BlownEA - http://lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1856

Deankdx - http://lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2340

I haven't got an EF I can look at nearby, but from memory it should be the same install as mine.

Stock computer will be fine until you go turbo/supercharged. (Although I think you can run a small amount of boost...)

Engine mount templates? Not that I know of.. I made mine up while the motor was in place. Have a look at the pics if you want to see how I did it.

You would need an adaptor plate made up to run the T5. No real biggie. Not sure how you will go with a clutch.. (Or are they a cable clutch with no master in the engine bay? There is a bank of cylinders where the master would go)

Stock internals will handle some boost.. all depends on how hard you want to push it, and how much you want to spend.. ;-)

My conversion was a budget job.. about 6k including the car, engineering, and rego ;-)

BlownEA has spent much more.. ;-)

Have a look, have a think.. and any questions, feel free to ask.

Fantastic thanks for your help. I am located in Sydney; Maybe a naturally aspirated one would go hard enough; Can you get 250 (flywheel)kW out of an NA motor?
