where is the engine number?

Hi all,

I'm fitting a 1uz into a Lotus, it's from a 1992 soarer- I need to put the engine number on the V5 (UK reg document). Can anyone tell me where the engine number is and what the format looks like?

It's stamped onto the block, just under the front water bridge.
Or below the IACV to put it another way.

Yes.
I've done seven V8 Hilux conversions now and all have no expansion tank.
No reports of overheating or lost coolant. I did use brand new 3.0 diesel Hilux radiators though.

XR8tt - how much do you have to remove to see the engine number? I've looked at mine, even took the plastic cover off that goes across over the HT leads, but still can't see it - maybe I need to get the wire brush out(?)

Here...

It is hard to see, but if you rub a greasy finger over it you can see it clearer.
(Or if your engine is spotless, try using some chalk dust)

It will have to be the greasy finger then..... Need to get the new engine number on the V5 at some point.
