what size tires do I need for stock wheels

Same question for an SC4. My tires are old and tired. I've got the factory 16" 225/55/16. How wide can I go safely with that rim? I was hoping at least 245, am I dreaming? Also, with that rim is there any benefit to going with a smaller sidewall?(like say from a 55 to a 50) or would it not be safe/look weird?

I have also heard Toyo Proxes T1-S have excellent dry traction.

I have Toyo Proxes T1-S on my Cobra replica and they have no problem in the dry putting down my 300+ horsepower ...........they have significantly less grip in the slush however as I found out yesterday when a sudden snow shower interrupted my Sunday afternoon blast.......
