my supercharger conversion for the 1uz starts and runs, you should consider that next, just copy it !

My son and I dropped a 400hp. 5l (302) Ford in one of these. If you look at your engine bay picture, we had to clearance the metal seams on each side (above and below where your steering shaft enters the engine bay and on the other side) The Small Block ford is not as wide as the 1UZ so you may have to do that to get the 1U where you want it to sit. We also had to box the floor square where the passenger's side extractor drops down under the car. In North America the MX5 is called a Miata and of course they are stuffing North American V8s in these, but if you want ideas about differentials, bigger brakes, etc. you might want to check out this site. http://http://monstermiata.webs.com/ or this one http://http://forum.miata.net/vb/

Thought it was about time a updated this thread, lol.

Got my gearbox today, woohoo!

It's a w58 and has a remote linkage, but the seller also included a short linkage thingy, so I have a choice of where to locate the gearstick, depending on where everything lines up when I attach it to the engine.

Need to see what I can do about a gearstick now.

Yeah, I was starting to get really dis-heartened. It seemed that when I had cash, there were no gearbox's available, and when I was skint there were plenty. But finally the starts aligned correctly and both came along at the right time

I'm going to be really sad and use some spacers and bits of metal to joing it to the bellousing temporarily, just so I can see where it's going to line up under the car, lol.

Just can't decide on an adapter plate, or a bellhousing. Decisions decisions.
