Supercharger clearance?

Can anyone tell me how many inches of clearance there are on a SC400/Soarer with an eaton M90/M112/MP112. Thanks again.

M90 and M112 will fit under the bonnet with the correct manifold.

MP112 wwon't fit due to the top air inlet. It's about 4" (100MM) taller than an M112.

You can always cut a big hole in the bonnet. This will give heaps of cool air.

What is the average thickness of the top plate on a supercharger manifold like jordy ski boat? I am trying to get a sandwich plate intercooler about a inch or two thick in between the M90/M112 and still fit under the Soarer Bonnet? Thanks

Philly,

I think Jordy used 10mm or 3/8".

There's no way you'll fit 1 or 2" plate in there.

Is the top plate 3/8? 10mm because what about milling the top to maybe about 5mm? Would that affect structual integrity? Or If I relocated the starter, Would I gain an inch or two by lowering the manifold? Thanks Zuffen

Phily,

If you move the starter you have room to burn.

By moving the starter you give yourself 175mm (or 7") of extra room. The only things that infringe on that dimension are the knock sensors (they can be shortened) and the heater pipe, it can be relocated.

I can post some photos of my intercooled manifold I've built that uses a Ford Lightning valley grafted to Lexus inlet runners. The injectors stay in the stock location and the waterbridges remain unaltered. I'll post later today when I get home.

If you can possibly relocate the starter things looks easy.

Don't ask how many hours I've spent on the manifold or even of the problem of keeping it all square to the crank shaft. I've seen blowers mounted at ugly angles that will eat drive belts.
