Howdy from here in Texas, sure do appreciate the compliment! Just joined, hopin' to help with Eaton supercharger tech and learn some myself, saw your post and thought I'd thank ya.

ps wait'll ya see the M112 work I'm doing...

I've got a "brand new" M112, and I'm in TX as well. The SC's not mounted yet, but its intended victim will be a built 4.0l 1UZ. What sort of work do you do on these SC's?

Pretty much anything. I've wanted to try fitting a Lightning blower to one of my V6's but the ones I've seen on evilBay just weren't up to par or got pricey as the auction ended. Some good prices on the nicer ones but simply just more than I wanted to spend.
Then last Saturday I found an NOS Lightning blower at the Autorama at a giveaway price so here in the near future it'll be Katy-bar-the-door! An IC box will space the blower high enuff to clear the injector rails and there's a little leeway front and rear for positioning the blower as far as pulley alignment goes. As you can tell I'm pretty enthusiastic about this project, won't be finished tomorrow but as long as I make steady progress then I'll be happy. There's so many used Lightning setups out there to be had, with their integral bypass setups I think they're a natural for swaps and I'd like to come up with a few popular kits.

Bird,

I'd be interested in you looking back over the M112 and MP112 posts we have here and giving us some thoughts.

A few of us are playing with the 112.

Mine is using the entire maniflod valley, intercooler and blower from an L. My intercooker lives in the valley of the V8 and the starter has been relocated to make room.

I've lurked on many a board over the years observing questions/answers on the M112, eventually joined my share of boards also. As far as what y'all need it looks like the 03-04 Cobra is the way to go because of hood clearance. It would put the throttle body in the "correct" area for your applications. The Cobra blowers aren't as "cheap" as the Lightning units yet but given time more will show on the market and hopefully we can all benefit. Just curious...would an intake for the 1uzfe be the prime target to shoot for?

By the way, thanks for makin' me feel at home. Got a few customers in OZ, one has a white Cobra kit car with a M90 on a SC400(?), pics somewhere in my archives...is he here?

Yep, that would be me. I have bought a few things of Tbird. He provides a great service with extra fast delivery.

Tbird,

The 1UZ manifold would outsell the other variants hands down.

The other engines are still a bit expensive compared to the 1UZ. Plus we have most of the 1UZ's good and bad points sorted.

The VVTi worries most people a bit as getting it to run on aftermarket management looks a mission.

Cobra - dang if I can find those pics. The email you included them in is on an old hardive but sure thought I had saved 'em to this one. Pretty cool setup ya have, looked factory when I first saw it. Best I remember is you took the overall pic of the car in your driveway from the front right, had the hood off(?)

Zuffen - Thanks for the advice, gonna take a stroll and see what I find on 1UZ intakes etc, maybe see what can be found locally to piddle with. Keep in mind I'm not much on the computer/fuel management side but we'll see what develops.

ps - scored this...Koko (my boss) helped out bigtime because I don't have the option to send with Paypal. Can't wait to butcher on it!

Bird,

Welcome to our forum. If you have sometime and money, you should try to make manifold adapter for the Cobra supercharger. Even they are still expensive, but still very cheap compare to the rest. All we need is a 1UZFE adapter with MP112.

TBird,

Thats a Lightning MP112.

I have a couple sitting in my workshop to play with. I use one to mock up parts for the new one to go on.

I'm having trouble locating a stock lower pulley for a Lightning so I can adapt it to my 1UZ crank.

I'm tracking one on US eBay at the moment.

Howdy there Lex. I saw in one of the threads here what Jordy was doin', can you get him to make some more of those? His work looks fantastic, shouldn't be much to get a Cobra blower on it. Maybe work the underside of the intake for starter clearance and raise the blower deck for IC space(?)

thanks for the welcome,

Yep, got a few of 'em myself including an NOS unit. I figured the polishing job was worth most of the price. Might not be sparkly when I see it in person but I can fix that, got plenty of polishing tools at the shop so some touchups will be a breeze.
I'm stuck on Lightning setups at the moment because I've got a hood with plenty of clearance for whatever I wanna do.

Jordy is finishing mine off
although he has been in some stife
he has a plaster from his sholder to the tips of his finger
He has my charger M90 in bits getting the rotors re tefloned
should have mine all done around Feb
Mine should be the first of the intercooled ones
Cant wait
Gaz:veryhappy

Gaz, you mention that your M90 is intercooled. I'm curious as to what you are using for an intercooler and how much it will raise the M90. Are you using a custom built intercooler or something off another car or an aftermarket product? I'm thinking about supercharging my 1UZ and would like to do an intercooled setup. Let me know what you are working on.

Thanks,
Adam

My Supercharger is off a Ford Thunderbird
Do a search I dont have any photo's to post Im at work at the mo
I just bought it on Ebay
an intercooler came with my charger
But its not really going to suit so I have bought an after market one not to big not to small 450 mm x 350mm 73mm thick I think it is an other ebay product
What Car do you have?

I have a strete version of a Saker SVS. Its a mid-engined race car from New Zealand. Mine has a 1UZ in it and I have a little more hood clearance then a Lexus but not tons like the guys with these engines in boats. I may be able to manage that 73mm thick intercooler on my car but I would have to measure to be sure. I want to do a supercharger in the next 6-8 months and want to do something small (7-8psi) and coudl probably get away without an intercooler but if I can put one on then that is definietly the way to go. I'm still deciding if the M90 or M112 would be best for 7-8psi. I think both will do the job but not sure which would be best. The M90 coudl definietly handle 8 psi right? But would I be better of with the M112 as it wouldn't have to be working as hard to make the 8 psi or would the M112 not have enough low end power for a street car.

But anyway I am trying to look into some intercooler options but having trouble finding reasonably priced ones. I've seen 2 so far that are over $2000 USD just for the intercooler. I'm trying to find something on the cheaper side, possibly from another car. But I don't think the Lightening intercooler will work as it seems to be a little to big. I will look into the Thunderbird and Mustang intercooler and see if I can find any suitable options. Gaz, If you know which aftermarket unit you bought that woudl be very helful.

Well I just looked into the Thunderbord supercharger and intercooler setup. I didn't know they had a top outlet on the supercharger which then ran to the intercooler. I don't think that configuration would really work for me. I'm really trying to have the intercooler underneath the supercharger but above the intake manifold. I've seen a couple intercooler housings that are made for this type of setup but they are usually 4-4.5 inches thick (about 100-125mm) which may be way to big as I don't think I have that much clearance above my engine. I guess I could modify my bonnet as it is just fiberglass but I don't want to make it to big as it would strange on the car as it is really a roof scoop design since it is a mid engined car. I need to make some measurements to see what is possible with or without modification to the body.
