I'm new here, so don't mean to offend anyone. I have a 1946 Mercury that I want to repower. Thought of using the toyota V8. It is a big heavy car that weighs about 2000kg, also intend to pull a 1500kg camper. With all us 6 in it (we have 4 boys) I wonder if these engines would be up to the task on long hauls and cruises. Intend doing many thousands of km's with it, doing holidays etc. Thought initially running it stock for ease of repair etc??? Would like to get other people's comments on this please

3,500kg train weight plus (say) 750kg for passengers and other junk is 4,250kg.

Whilst I've seen all up weight of 3,000kg and the vehicle still went well, I would think you would want something with more low down torque. Whilst I think the 1UZ is the duck's guts I'm not sure I would recommend it for this application.

Maybe some Tundra owners would be able to give some comments on their experiences.
