Injection timing

Has any one checked the injection timing (phasing) of the stock ECU to use in an aftermarket ECU? I have worked up a generic surface of injection timing versus rpm vs manifold pressure, but was wondering if anyone had actually set up a scope on an injector and crank trigger to determine the timing of the stock ECU.

This could be a large portion of the reason some running aftermarket ECUs are not getting as much power (and/or fuel economy) as the stock ECU.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

a good point, as i get my ems installed in my mr2 with the 3.4L v6 and my scope back (lent it to a customer to help toruble shoot a piggyback problem) i will test the comparison form my tacoma stock ecu same engine with the ems.
