I have a 93 LS400 and it was going great until I went to leave my apartment about a week ago. I went to give it over 50% throttle and the engine started to accelerate to maybe 2000 RPM and then cut off and went back to 1200 and then gave me power back. Anytime I depress the pedal too hard it cuts back the power.
It does this in neutral or in gear. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. It's not throwing a code and I couldn't find a solution on the diagnostic chart.
If I accelerate with less than 50% throttle, I can rev to any RPM. So with light throttle and the use of the manual mode I can get decent acceleration by leaving it in each gear longer.
If it's any help, the car was giving me a high pitched subtle whine on WOT from idle to 3,000 RPM and then it would cut off and it seemed like I got a little surge of power the rest of the way. Could this be a vacuum issue?
