We have three engines in the UZFE family. If we can get rods/pistons upgrade combination then my choice of FI engine would be the 4.3L 3UZFE? Why? I has everything 1uzfe has but larger cubic and stronger main caps at the same time better heads and cams. The 2uzfe is great but the extra weight might not be a great choice. 1UZFE is economically sound and easily access them. Here is my order of engine choice:

Mild: 1UZFE
Wild: 3UZFE
Extreme: 2UZFE

What is your list?

Mild..... 4.0 L.... 98+ 1uz-fe block w/ 2uz crank (mix match recipe of rods & pistons)

Wild..... 4.6L .... 2uz-fe w/ 1uz-crank (mix match recipe of rods & pistons)

Terrifying....5.2L ... 2uz-fe 3.5" stroked crank .080 over bore (Mix match recipe of rods & pistons)

I choose the extremely wild but not mild 2UZFE, 4.7L ..... all the way baby, bigger is better!!!!!!!!"that's what she said"

What advantages are there to a 2uz crank in a 1uz block? Are the '98+ 1uz blocks any different than the previous gen.? Well back to topic. My choice would def. be a 2uz block with a 3uz head----------->turboed of course! Talk about extreme, if not LEXTREME; lol!!

It's just the mix and match of pistons + rods that would be going in there that would dictate the need to swap cranks around. I'm going to be doing some experimenting with it. : )

2 uzfe has a longer stroke than the 1-3 uz do. As Cowboy Bebop says, you will need to mix and match pistons to go with the heads if you change cranks.

Believe it or not.. i am using the 2UZFE iron block with 1UZFE crank..... and 1UZFE uppers with 3uzfe main caps if i can find some......

1uz, 2uz, 3uz in that order.
There are tons of 1uz & 3uz's around so there is a larger market to sell to. You have a 1uz, so anything done there benifits you easily - so 1uz first.

wait a minute. wouldnt it be a better idea to ditch the 2UZ and go to a small block Chevy? it would be lighter, possibly smaller, and parts are more readily available for them. not to mention that the parts you can get are most likely cheaper, they are everywhere, and the displacement is bigger.

There's a lot of advantages to keeping brand loyalty. ECU compatability, motors drop in easily, ect. Plus 32 valves doesn't hurt either. : )

Eric

true. but you could go with a Northstar V8, it has 32 valves too. but that probly defeats the purpose of using a lighter engine, because its probly heavier than a 2UZ.

Import V8's is where the reliability is at, but man you can power up those small block Chevy's of Fords big time!!!!!! Lot's of easy available options for the Chevy's swaps and builds here in the States as well. I have thought about it a few times myself, I hate to say.....I can easily build a 500hp in a snap with a 327ci, 350ci, or 383ci Small Block Chevy, but to do it with the Import V8 is challenging and I like a good challenge.... So IUZ it is for me for now!!!!!!!!

but remembering chevs cleavs and windsors etc have been around since the cave man made the wheel so theres alot of years trial and error, there is a a few combos that would get you big horsepower.
the uzfe is quite a good motor hey and cant at all be compaird with a chev... please :)
i believe any uzfe would be perfect for power, lightness and strenght anyday.
its all inside the head of the builder :) and only as good as its tuned.

That is right, and no Chevy's cannot compare to the IUzfe engines for alot of reasons.. The one thing that is doable with Chevy's is their easy conversion doability, easyness to make horsepower, and cost effectiveness in comparison to the IUZFE in those departments. Ask me which motor I would rather have under my hood though? I will take the Iuz.. all day long.

I'll say 1UZ as thats what we'll be using, but in the future I plan to go wild with a VK56 from Nissan. Still all aluminum, 6 bolts mains, and 5.6 liters. Sleeve it out to 7 liters no problem and still keep a 1.67 rod ratio.

I think that 1uz is stronger that a 3uz any day of the week. The smaller crank counter weights and thinner cylinder walls puts the 3uz into the *mild* category. A girdled 2uz would be the strongest Toyota V8 offering available to the public. That specific combination has proven to 1500hp in racing use and is the first import crossing the 200mph mark in the quarter mile.

I heard the 1UZ is still even a better engine then the 2UZ as I inquired into this a while back.. The first generation 1UZ was said to be the best built out of them all to my suprise.
