    Porting heads for more power

It increases turbulence at the SMALL layer of air close to the wall. This wall actually lubricates the laminar air above it and puts up resistance to fuel hitting the wall. That would be my guess anyway.

    DOHC vs Push Rod

A 4.0L LS2 would get more than 20mpg. A 4.0L LS2 that had the same power as the 6.0L LS2 would not have pushrods. How much would it cost GM to make the 4.0L like that? Far too much. When you think that GM try and save $1 per car because it works out to millions of dollars at the end of the...

    DOHC vs Push Rod

The pushrod engines like the LS1 and Viper motors get their power and reliability from capacity because gas is cheap in the USA. If you doubled, or tripled the price of gas in the USA then the car makers would start to look for ways of lowering capacity and but still maintaining power.

    Running MegaSquirtn'Spark questions.

How do you plan on using the megasquirt to control spark? Fuel would be fine but I couldn't find anyone that had made it work for spark on the 1uzfe.

    Cutting An Intercooler

I was thinking an option might be to pass the water through the inside of the core and the charge air on the outside. I don't know if there would be an advantage though.

    Cutting An Intercooler

As an intercooler it would kick ass big time. Are you going to put the water through the intercooler inside or outside?

    Weight of turbos

For terminal speed on a car I don't think weight is too much of a factor. It will certainly have an effect on how fast you get up to speed but not on top speed....in theory. The extra power that you'd get from a turbo would far outweigh the weight.

    Weight of turbos

For speed record I'd use a big front mount intercooler and then a water to air after that. Put coldest liquid in water to air.

Air to Air or Water to Air (Round 1)

Good info at that site. He doesn't mention what speed they start to have an advantage, or the size of the a/a intercoolers he was using.

I thought it was insulting but I can see now what you meant.

Air to Air or Water to Air (Round 1)

The 14 times longer comparison does not hold up. There is no closed volume of air to heat up like there is water. There is an unlimited supply of ambient air tempurature to cool the charge air.....it does not heat up and up and up. The stats I posted in the other thread were from the...

I can go out tomorrow and buy a large A/A FMIC for $500 that has the following properties. 80%+ efficiency at 20mph+ and less than 1psi drop of boost. If you wanted the very best you could probably get 90% and 0.5 psi boost drop at 10mph. I'd hazard a guess that this standard of intercooler was...

    Project Thread Project SC400TT

I've been reading Julians stuff for over 10 years and he is really good. I'm registered on the site but I can't find any article comparing them where he does testing. Has anyone found any comparison with real world tests on the net that has been done in the last couple of years?

    Project Thread Project SC400TT

If that is the one on water sprays then there was no comparision to water to air, just testing on air to air and it didn't quite make sense to me.
