    1UZ in a 280SE

Yep got both standard ECCS ECU and Auto ECU with the engine. A bit more expensive than $300 US here, but still $200 cheaper than a 1UZ.

    1UZ in a 280SE

I welded a tube across that cut section of the crossmember and then plated the top up. No dramas with engineer cert.

    1UZ in a 280SE

Pics and details here: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/266156 I went with a forward facing log manifold for the driver's side which went under the inner pivot on the lower control arm. On the passenger side, I made a rear facing log. Then went with twin 2.5" cats (because 2.25" ones don't...

    1UZ in a 280SE

I finished this conversion about 6 months ago and it well and truly put things into perspective about how good the 1UZ is. The Merc weighs 1620kg, and obliterates many a car on the road. I finished putting a 1UZ into a VS wagon at work and quickly discovered the lack of torque compared to the...

    Wanted Log manifolds for 1UZ

Anyone got log manifolds for the 1UZ? Looking for someone else. If it was me, I'd just make them like I did for my VH45DE 280SE... But anyway, can swap for later model manifolds. Cheers.

    Wahoo! 1uz in...1st gen Celica???

Then the US got rorted on the GT. AU ones had an entirely different dash - oil pressure and amp gauges I believe. Also got proper twin cam engines! The base every manual RA23 in AU was 5 speed. My LT had more features this GT.

    Wahoo! 1uz in...1st gen Celica???

Dude, that is totally not a GT. Which is good, cause you'd be a nutter to put a 1UZ in a real GT.

    Wahoo! 1uz in...1st gen Celica???

Nope, still first generation. I had a '76 RA23. That model has a flatter front - not slanted indicators. RA40 was second generation and dog ugly. Do a Google image search for TA22 and RA23 and you'll see what I mean. All of their extra length is front of the windscreen.

    Wahoo! 1uz in...1st gen Celica???

You'd probably want an RA23 Celica for this conversion. I've seen it done in a 22, but the 23 has a longer engine bay.

    1UZ in a 280SE

No longer is this thread relevant to this forum. I called to buy a 1UZ front sump engine and auto on Monday, but none were available until september. Called a couple of other importers, but nothing suitable. So I have a VH45DE coming for it tomorrow instead.

    1UZ in a 280SE

Update I pulled the Merc engine out today and discovered there's a ridiculous amount of room and there! Maybe for two turbos later....

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

Thanks Lambo. Woah that's some pretty high pressure. I have the Merc manual coming in the next couple of days, so I'll check it out.

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

Castle Hill Toyota sorted it out no worries.

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

Hey Sideshow, its Sean from quick fit. From what you said about the VN, I could assume that the solenoid or valve on the pump is normally open and the computer varies pressure by closing it. Makes sense. If the fan ECU were to die, you'd still have a fan. Sounds like toyota to me.

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

Man, this isn't about fans. Fans are the easy bit.

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

Man, I don't want to hear that! Hoses to handle that sort of pressure are expensive! Maybe I can come up with some sort of variable solenoid controller so I'm only using 10% duty cycle. Meh... I'll sort it out somehow.

    1UZ in a 280SE

I bought an '81 Mercedes 280SE with a trashed motor last week for $450. I disconnected most of the engine bay stuff and removed the auto on Saturday. This weekend I'll be removing the engine in preparation for the 1UZ that should hopefully be arriving next week. The plan is to fit a...

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

The pump on the merc engine is mounted to the front of the timing cover. Looks to run off the exhaust cam. A guy at Mercedes told me today that the Merc pump runs on about 25PSi. I'm planning to use the hydraulic fan pump with constant ignition power to the solenoid so it's fully open - to...

    Hydraulic fan pump spec

I'm putting a 1UZ in a Mercedes 280SE and I'm wondering if anyone knows what sort of pressure the 1UZ hydraulic fan pump runs at on 100% duty cycle. I've got a crazy idea that involves running the 280SE self levelling suspension off it.
