    vvti and non vvti questions

Interestingly, for the sake of completion, My truck is now done and running. The Transfer box did not move forward at all, I just spaced out the transmission mount up 25mm. With 3" suspension lift at the rear, the stock prop shafts fitted fine. If the engine had moved forward more than...

    vvti and non vvti questions

Thanks again Gloverman, I didn't realise that the transfer box would have to move, as you can tell I've not started taking things apart yet and started measuring., - just trying to learn as much as a I can in preperation, which is sometimes frustrating when I've not seen a lot of the bits for...

1uz VVTi on Factory ECU without gearbox

Cheers Vince ;) Good to know about the bits.. I wish I still had a working EPC to compare part numbers... I was thinking of running with http://www.latentsolutions.com/suprastickuv.html But the spitronics unit looks good too, (software looks nicer) I was thinking of using the stock...

1uz VVTi on Factory ECU without gearbox

Thanks Quarter..... If the trans was a A340E from an earlier LS400, yes it would do totally doable with standard parts... but it's from a later VVTi LS400, and has the A650e 5 speed auto. -I'll need a controler (suprastick) -1UZ-> A340 Bell housing and probably the front cover that goes...

    vvti and non vvti questions

Great info gloverman, nice to know that it can be done, after a LOT of searching the web I have only seen you do it! I can't believe that no one does an off the shelf kit for it... Do you think with a bit of work on (or custom built) the output shaft, and a machined/cast transmition ->...

    1uzfe vvti in a 91 ls400

To my knowledge the VVTi ECU won't control the 4 speed, you would be far better off fitting the 5 speed that goes with it. (I have this problem in reverse, my 4x4 system will cost a small fortune to mount to the 5 speed, so I need to use the existing 4 speed and an aftermarked transmission...

1uz VVTi on Factory ECU without gearbox

Thanks Stevieg, We have just tried an experiment. We disconnected the main autobox multiplug which controls all the solenoids and took the car for a drive. The engine runs fine, we got a gearbox cheack light (flashing ect light) but the car was fine. (We manually shifted the gears using the...

1uz VVTi on Factory ECU without gearbox

Hi All I am currently considering my options with an engine transplant into my Gen 3 Hilux Surf/4runner 3 litre diesel automatic. I have aquired a 99 LS400 which has the VVti engine. I have a few options open to me and I am trying to decide which route to take. I could use the...
