    Draining coolant from block: 1UZ-FE

Is there a coolant drainplug on this engine? I want to replace coolant. Emptying the rad only drains about 3 L or so.

    TC lock-up on A344 transmission

Can anybody tell me if the TC lock-up on the A344 'box is controlled by the electronic control unit or is it locked purely mecahnically?

    1UZ into Prado 95

After some debate with myself whether I should start a new thread for this query I decided carry on in this one. The 1UZ in my Prado releases some light bluish grey smoke on start-up with engine at normal temperature. What could this be? What mileage the engine has done before the conversion...

    1UZ into Prado 95

Hi samsdad. Yes, the temptation to put foot is sometimes irresistable! That smooth uptake and the roarrrr! when you let rip is sooooo nice. To say nothing of the push in the back. But the consumption figures I quoted above is with carefull driving. Really.

    Lambda & airtemp

Yes @NDY, Spitronic. The Spitronic guys are right here in Pretoria, not more than 6 km from where I live. I did go to see them and they recommended RBTS Racing in Kemptonpark. I have not fitted the lambda and ATS yet, for I had to re-route the exhaust first. Exhaust went right under the tranny's...

    Lambda & airtemp

Thanks guys. I have a locally produced aftermarket ECU and it is quite good. It was installed w/out O2 sensor and AIT and not properly set up. Fuel consumption in town was 16 mpg in town with the 3.4 V6 in my Prado 90. After the conversion that dropped to 13 mpg. Open road was 22.7 mpg at 100...

    Lambda & airtemp

How crucial are the lambda (oxygen) sensor and air temp sensor to the performance of a 1UZ? When using OEM wiring and EMU it is probably not even possible to run the engine without those, but with an aftermarket EMU there's a choice. My belief is that the engine was designed to work with those...

    1UZ into Prado 95

All I want to say now the whole transplant episode is behind me is, do NOT put a V8 in a Prado 95, unless if you use the 1UZ's 'box and wiring harness also. It just messes up what used to be a very nice car. I am going to sell my truck and get a Pajero DI-D in its place. The fuel consumption of...

    1UZ into Prado 95

As promised, here are some pics of the final installation. Fuel economy: in town 14.8 mpg average (no street racing, but now and then a little "spirited" driving) and 21.1 mpg on the open road at speeds of 65 mph to 75 mph. Here and there a short "power run" to overtake. Power aplenty and very...

    1UZ into Prado 95

As much as I would like to take the credit for the looks of that motor, the preparation was done by Mark, "my mechanic". He knows his stuff, and that's a fact. They are busy with the exhaust, aircon, power steering, and so on, while the truck is on the lift. Hope to start her this weekend...

    1UZ into Prado 95

I had some damage done to my 3.4 V6 in January this year. Had to either rebuild or replace the 5VZ-FE motor. As rebuilding would cost abot R60k and the replacement with a Jap import of the same type R20k, I have just about decided to go that route, when someone asked "Why not the 1UZ?" Darn! So...

Output curves for 1UZ-FE VVTi (1997 on)

Thanks, I've found one there for the non-VVTi motor, but I'll go have another look. Keep well Cheers

Output curves for 1UZ-FE VVTi (1997 on)

Does anybody have any idea where I can see (prefrrably download) torque curves/graphs of UZ-series engines - dead standard? My primary interest is as in my thread header. I want to see at which revs my torque output (engine being installed in my Prado 90) peaks, and stuff like that.

    1GZ-FE Part Numbers

Or you could get a spitronics aftermarket. Fantastic job of work. http://www.spitronics.co.za/cms/ Forex: $US1 = ±ZAR7,8

1gz for 79 series landcruiser truck

At Reef altitude (where Mark operates ;)) the power loss compared to coastal figures, in other words as always quoted, is about 17%, which means the 176kW would be ± 210kW at the coast. Then transmission losses have to be factored in - which I do not know the magnitude of - but my guess is we...

    1uzfe into 1995 Isuzu Kb260

Pierre, I am about to have a 1UZ transplanted into my Prado 90 by a guy named Mark Watson in Springs. He is an absolute blooming marvel at this sort of thing. If you are interested and he does not mind (I'm sure he won't) I can send you his e-mail address. I own a 1996 model KB250 D/C 4x2 and...
