How do I get reverse lights working?

I have a 91 Surf with 1uz and auto I have no reverse lights and cannot see how to get them going. If I could find the output from the gearbox or ecu i could run a relay and wires to the back and get it going. I even thought about running a microswitch on the shifter, but cant see a good...

After heading out in the mud the other week the 1uz started running rough. i thought thats ok, petrols do that sometimes when they get wet. but when i got it home it would start and run fine for a couple of days, but now the starter motor wont run at all. i checked the ECU output and there is...

Can anyone ID this ECU? And help with gearchanges

yeah i certainly didnt assume it would be easy, part of the reason that i bought one that was meant to be already done. motor was put in by a mechanic and wired up by an auto elec, they both did an unbelievably poor job.

getting really tired of these issues, but put a bit of time in to try to figure it out. tried with each ignitor unplugged, no change with #1 unplugged but without #2 it would turn over but not fire at all. traced the wires from both ignitors, all seem fine but IGT on ignitor 1 has a bit of...

1uzfe starts then stalls. Engine conversion

I have the same problem. Was fine, then started to die while driving, now wont run once started, only for about 2 seconds. checked codes again and now get 14 (no IGF1 signal to ECM for 8-11 consecutive IGT1 signal) and 78 (fuel pump) , as well as left and right oxy sensor, but it would run with...

looked at the diagram and it was easier to use a tast light. did a bit of searching the net for the pins on the diagnostic plug (on the engine) and worked out which to put the light on. Tried a 10mm wedge bulb (like indicator/park light) but that didn't work, so tried an LED indicator and that...

Ended up going the cork gasket. Sucked to get it on but not as messy! so far no leaks, did put on my other pan that looked a bit straighter. Finally took it for a drive, was ruinning at operating temp for about 20-30 min before it would die for a second, then come good again. Did this about 5...

what type did you use? i removed mine on the weekend which was a prick of a job because the exhaust is so close to the front edge, i could only tilt it down i little because i couldnt get it all the way off. I removed the cork gasket and used silicone instead. I left it overnight then...

Can anyone ID this ECU? And help with gearchanges

i have a couple diagrams for the transfer wiring but they dont match up. i went to the wreckers and traced the wires of a later model (had two plugs top left of transfer and electronic speedo) and cut the motor plug and transfer indicator switch (which didnt help). When i went to wire it up...

thanks, its getting there, slowly! yeah tyres are 33s, but didn't feel quite right with the 30s either. had a look at the process to pull down the transfer case to swap the input shaft and it looks quite involved. Might be the only option, and at least it should end up being more reliable.

i pulled the plugs and wiring out of both gearboxes and put the one that matches the loom in the vehicle (the one with temp) into the replacement gearbox. im hoping that this works. Both look the same apart from the temp so that make sense. so just to confirm, if something is wrong with the...
