    High Pressure Vacuum

H-m-m-m-m-m David, For not being an engineer, you sure do lots of things that look like train-driving stuff....:o) Great job and great thought process for a saw-bones, eh? Wayne

    Water/methanol injection

Make your own Zuffen, I think the best bet is to understand what makes the system work well and select the best parts from a variety of sources and make your own, as I did. I got the pump from one source, tank from another, controller from another, connectors, hoses, and electrical from...

    Water/methanol injection

Thanks, David....I also did a lot of research to find the correct tank for all the reasons you list but also the correct size and shape to fit the only place I had under the hood. Pic enclosed as I was putting the system together. You will also see the 150 psi pump left and under the air filter.

    Water/methanol injection

Ditto I agree with David....Snow has a crappy rep...I've seen some of their systems and they don't use quality material, at least on the ones I saw. I have a system on my Tundra that works very well, but I bought the parts separately to get the quality and put it together myself. Many places...

    Blowing up the 1uz-fe

David, You are exactly right! After seeing what the two-bolt will take, I feel VERY comfortable with the bottom end, especially with the forged crank, larger main studs and L-19 rod bolts, and the H-beam forged rods under the Ross pistons. Plan on taking it to the edge....:veryhappy...

    Blowing up the 1uz-fe

Correct....from what I can see, the rods failed (when you look at a 2uz rod, you will see why) and started a chain reaction that killed the rest of the engine. Again, crank is forged and nothing happened to it, save some scratches on the counterweights. 2 bolt mains held up as well. Wayne

    Blowing up the 1uz-fe

I didn't mean to give the impression the crank of the 2uz was a problem. That is the one area that I am proud of....even with all the broken pieces flying around inside the block, the stock 2 bolt main caps and the crank remained unscathed with the exception of a little scarring on the...

    Blowing up the 1uz-fe

Jibby, You are correct on a number of points...1uz is much stronger than 2uz...mainly in the rod area....heck, the tundra motor is redlined at 5300 rpm! Also correct in not really being able to compare the two motors apple-to-apple. Wasn't running lean as evidenced by pulling the plugs quite...

    Blowing up the 1uz-fe

Comes apart Jibby, To answer your question about blowing a motor...I haven't blown a 1uz but I have blown a 2uz running 9 lbs of boost (supercharger) and 150 hp shot of nitrous. I had about 150 runs on the completely stock motor when it blew. The bottom end (with the exception of the crank)...

    NOS rookie questions

Doesn't seem right David, Your times don't seem right, nor do your 60 ft times for the eigth mile. Did you do that with the car before you turbo'd? They fairly close if you had the N/A 1uz...although the 60 ft times still seem a bit too slow. Having said that, if you did that with the...

    NOS rookie questions

2uzfe-SC/Turbo/Nitrous/Alcohol Injection Jibby, If you go to the FI section, look for Wayne Ryther and click the link, you can see what I've done to a stock 2uzfe in a Tundra, the havoc if you go too far with a stock motor and what I am putting back together. Ran a best of 8:20 in the eighth...

    What Soft Dyno?

Motion Software Dyno2003 Pro John, I've used Motion Software products for quite a while and have had good luck with Dyno2003 Pro. Same with this software, if you put in the correct parameters, you get a pretty accurate picture. I've actually designed and built an engine using the software...

    Single Turbo LS400 Burn Out

Wow!!! I am impressed! Looks like you got your power problems under control, eh? There will be a big surprise for the camaro and mustang bubba's if they pull down on you. Do you have line-lock on your car or are you power braking to stall and then letting her go? GREAT STUFF!!!

First Pics!! Modified 2uz-fe OEM cams

I'll 'Fess up when complete I will post all engine specs and dyno numbers when I get this thing back together, broken in and dyno-tuned...that won't be for a while but it will be apples and oranges, folks. I will have a radically modified engine so it won't make much sense to compare stock...

    1UZFE Vs. 2UZFE Redline

Sounds like a plan That sounds like a plan, David...of course, you being the inscrutable Oriental, you will probably have your SC470TT running 8's in the quarter but have all your child seats in there and pretend it is a 'family wagon'....:slaphappy :slaphappy the ultimate sleeper.
