    Cooling system pipework deleting ???

The reason I want to delete them is to make room for the remotely mounted ISCV hoses. I think I will block off the rear nearside hose, then do what you did and run a hose from the stat housing to the back farside manifold. I dont want to delete all of them incase air is hard to blead from the...

    Cooling system pipework deleting ???

I've had a few carbed engines that ran into hot starting problems due to fuel vaporisation..... you might be right about the fuel being under pressure though? It isnt the crossover manifolds I want to delete...just the two hoses that run between the front manifold and the rear one... Elliot

    Cooling system pipework deleting ???

Just looking for some input on a pipework question. On my 1uz, I am hoping to delete the radiator overflow bottle proving I can lift the radiator up enough once the engine is in the car. At the moment I am assuming I can do this. On my engine there are two cast coolant manifolds, I dont know...

I agree with the view on synthetic oils for running in an engine, I've heard a few people say the same thing. The new Nulon engine oil I have is designed to have much lower friction than its competitors. I think from memory about 36 percent less. What does everyone else think ? Elliot

I've started putting my wiring diagram onto autocad. I have done it in 3 separate drawings so far. 1 showing the M48 wiring, 2 showing the engine wiring and 3 showing the starting and relay circuits. I've attached fuzzy jpg's so you can kinda get an idea. Autocad files dont convert to jpg's to...

    Engine build up

I was hoping to mount the new sump to the engine early last week, but I was let down by the suppliers of the cork gasket material I ordered. It did finally arrive on wednesday evening and I immediately set about hand cutting the gasket using the sump as a template. I bolted up the sump to the...

Are sure? The pickup pipe I've made bolts up perfectly to the oil pump and the bottom of the engine block. Elliot

    Engine build up

Managed to find time to complete the oil pump pickup pipe, strainer and tank baffle. Heres what it kinda looks like in the sump The pickup pipe and strainer were made from a rear sumped lexus supplied for by David (thanks yet again). I had to cut the main long section in half and weld in a...

    Engine build up

After 3 weeks of chasing up the machine shop, the sump has now finally been completed. I am 99% sure that the sump would have sealed up fine against the underside of the block, but you cant be too careful. I also asked the welder to have the rear plates that butt against the bottom part of the...

Dont really know if it's a show piece or not. I want to run the car on the track and take it to shows and go for long drives on the weekend....thats about it. Not really interested in winning medals or getting max horsepower.....I just want to do the best I can do and thats more than good...

Redphoenix, I am trying not to have too high an expectation for the engine...that way I wont be dissapointed. I dont think the engine is too far from standard as far as naturally aspirated motors go. I guess if I had to put a target figure on it, that 300 - 325 horses would be about there...

    Transmission wiring

Can someone please post a wiring diagram of the a341E transmission ? I am trying to wire up a tiptronic controller and need somewhere to start from. I asked this same question some time ago but the reply wont load for me any more..... Elliot

Picked up the cover from the chrome platers today ! Looks much better than the black plastic cover. Also discovered today that I need to fit a 2nd engine coolant temperature sensor for the transmission computer....luckily I have a few unused sesnor positions on the engine to fit one. Elliot

    Engine build up

Made some progress today at work during a quiet few hours...hehe. Made up a steel cover plate to sit on top of the black plastic cover where the OE ISCV sits which I wont be using. Just brought it home to check the fit and it looks pretty good. It was a bit of a pain trying to weld it all up...

I've not updated for quite some time here. I've been working on the engine wiring loom. Tidying it all up and hiding as much as I can inside loom tube etc. Not much exciting to say about the wiring to be honest. I've tried my best to make everything look like it's not running an aftermarket...

    Couple of plumbing questions

I'm having a wee bit of trouble remembering where all the plumbing goes on my engine......again ! There is a vacuum line which runs from the front of the plenum down to the power steering pump, then back up to a tee in the ISCV to inlet pipe. What order do these pipes connect at the power...

If you could find a way to ge that power onto the road you'd be pulling much quicker 0 to 100 times. Cant remember asking you, but what computer are you running ? There is a facility on some of the aftermarket computers that you can fit a sensor on the front wheels and one on the back wheels...

No mate. its very simple....just a horizontal length of rhs..maybe 600 long with two lengths welded vertically one on each end about 400 long (to make a 'U' shape). then theyre bolted to the engine mounts. I used that to make sure the engine would run when i removed it from the half cut. I...
