I used the original gearbox that came with the Crown (A341E) and had the transfer adapted to it. I did not do it personally, but it was an easy swap, just the output shaft. But this requires the box to be almost dismantled and reassembled.
The reason I say this is that I had a guy come over...
It hasn't taken long for them to catch on. When I was researching my swap 12months ago, they basically laughed at me saying there was not enough demand for them to design engine mounts - so I did my own.
Boy how times have changed!!
Good luck!
Am I correct in thinking that this gunk is soft and the radiator can be flushed with a hose or should it be taken out for pro flush?
Good point, wouldn't have given it a second thought. But the engine was running in the 1/2 cut when I got it. I'll take the rad out tonight and have a look and...
Ok guys, hope you can help me out with this one. I have a 1UZ in a Toyota Surf (Hilux) and i'm on the home stretch of the project until this little hicup.
Here's the story:
I am running 2 11" fans as pushers with a custom shroud covering the top 2/3 of the std diesel rad (until x-mem at...
JustJap in Sydney sells 3" high flow stainless steel cats and flanges for $175. I bought one and is of very good quality for the price. I dont work for them and this is not a plug, just what I bought.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Hi-lex,
I actually move the engine/gearbox BACK 35mm! No cutting to sump, relocating - nothing. Fitted in perfectly (if there such a thing in conversions :) Mid sump hit right in the middle of the diff, front sump clears it. Read my post below with pics of front versus mid sump...
Zuffen,
I think you ment to say that to Cebby, cos i already have the rear mount oil filter and front mount sump.
Madmount,
Those specs that I put in were from the RYCO website. So on paper, the Z125 is too small, that's why I hunted for a more suited one.
Cheers.
Mate, it's a bit of a catch 22, cos yes you do need the front sump AND the remote oil filter, but neither car has both. So you need to either buy the front sump and pay for the oil remote mount or vise versa.
I too have a 50mm body lift and I needed it to get the auto in (going from man to...
Its not the seam OD that you have to be concerned with, its the gasket OD/ID
Seam OD 80.00 mm
Seam HT 76.00 mm
Gasket ID 53.80 mm
Gasket OD 63.80 mm
Relief Valve
Anti Drain
Thread 3/4" X 16UNF
As you can see, the gasket OD of the Z125 is actually smaller than the gasket ID of the Z418. It...
Well as most of us who have done this conversion (mainly on IFS) found that the standard Z418 oil filter is just that little bit too long. So after days of hunting and searching (actually 2 hours on the net) I have found one.
Heres the specs.
Z418
Seam OD 77.00 mm
Seam HT 85.00 mm...
If there are 2 of you, you could do it in one go. We did, but the 2nd person needs to lift the gearbox and juggle a bit. Could be a bit tricky on you own.
Good luck with the rest of the conversion.
Cheers.
That's what they were asking about in the start of the thread. Well, that's what hiluxmad was refering to when he replied it was under the bonnet.
But anyway, here's a pic of the check connector so we dont get confused any more
I have done it and although I paid someone to do it cos i wasn't confident with stripping an auto, it cost me $800 - $500 to pull box apart and change output shaft and $300 to buy a transfer, 4wd sump (extra cap) and output shaft.

Is there a way or someone that has a stock of these shirts in Aus? I would like to buy one and maybe some stickers. I dont see that shirt on the link and would like the final price if someone can help on shirt, stickers and shipping if possible.
Cheers.
Prob too late now as you've fixed it, but could 'the slipery' feeling in the coolant be the glycol that is in it? It's hard to explain the feeling of the coolant but i'm thinking that's what your getting at.
Cheers.
I have to add my 2 cents worth in this as I studied it to some degree.
Ethanol is made from grain and Methanol is made from wood.
It causes no problem to the engine itself, it does however break the rubber in the fuel lines down. Change the fuel lines to a silicon compound and all is good...
Believe it or not, it was in a half cut. The pulgs look very new and the motor was started and hot tested when I bought it. It's a very sweet sounding motor and still sounds very tight. Just a shame it was so dirty!
It will do for now to get my car started and will then look into other...
