have you considered painting just the engine bay a different colour than the rest of the car? White is a good functional colour for an engine bay. Easier to work on.

100% guaranteed it's a filter i suggest you replace the valve or try and glue it back together. dirt could conceivably get in the valve and cause it to stick or leak.

that piece isn't as long as the part manufactured in the linked thread that piece is designed to be used with the top plate from the early soarer transmission, which uses a swan necked gearshift, while the linked thread shows a nearly straight gear shift i wish it were easier :P

maybe it's the look shape and size of the engine or maybe everyone on here is just meticulous about their work, but in every 1UZ swap I've seen here, the engine looks so at home in the engine bay. It seems to fit beautifully in anything. Looks great!

sorry, i don't i do know that 4th is 1:1 though, so 5th and 6th are over drive

Sorry, I got the planetary gear thing wrong. 5spds have 4 sets, front, center and rear, plus a 4th for over drive. All 6spds have 3 sets, the cool thing is that they have 1 less set, but get an additional gear. I knew something funky went on, just couldn't remember exactly what.

Update: 2001-2003 5 spd auto 2004-2006 6 spd auto

Lexus LS430 3UZ I think all years were were all 6 spds, but there was a change in transmissions. one used 3 sets of planetary gears, and the later years got 6 spds using only 2 planetary gear sets.

do you have a built in phone? take out the left rear trim on the trunk. there's a junction block in there. the hardness for the built in phone piggybacks that connection. check for water leaks or condensation in that area. unplug the connectors and check for corrosion. one of the local lexus...

Is the engine from an SC400? If so, the ECU is would not be located in the front clip, it's below the left side rear window. I had a blown fuel pump ecu lying around at work, if I still have it, I'll snap a picture so you know what it looks like. PM me your e-mail addy, and I'll send a pic over.

I think where you might run into trouble, is the throttle cable for the transmission. The 92 should have one, and I think the 95 might not. If this is the case, the ECU will definitely not know what to do, and I doubt a 95 ECU would work in a 92. Check the 95 for a throttle cable.

If you could modify a WRX transmission, that would probably take a pounding. You'd need to lock the centre diff or viscous coupling, whatever it has, so only the front diff (which is inside the transmission) is being driven.
