    DOHC vs Push Rod

"Pushrod motors are good at doing what they were designed for. Making cheap, reliable power." Funny thing is in ANY industry other than cars, and for any other product, this is enough. In most industries, and if you go out looking to buy products, you don't try to find the most complex...

Anyone use a GM 200R4 or Ford AOD yet?

Or a Mustang T5? Looking for inexpensive transmission options here in the US that will work in a custom cruiser, not a race car. I'd prefer the 4 speed autoboxes to ease the conversion of the car, but I'd take a decent way of hooking up the cheap Mustang T5 5 speed manual...

    1UZFE + carburator = ?

The setup your talking about it using the Lexus ECU? If one were to use the EDIS-8 setup, driven by a megajolt, what parts would you need? Do you have to use the Ford crank trigger? Do you use the Lexus coilpacks or the Ford units?

Just did some checking on pricing in US$... So if I use the Electromotive XDi just to control spark, it'll cost me about $1000 just for ignition to make a $500 engine run if I use a carb setup. If I want to use injection, I'm looking at $2600-up for a TEC3 or Autronic or the like just to make...

    1UZFE + carburator = ?

true, but again, look at the stock injection, and the air box, and all the wires for all the sensors and the location of the computer, and think about how that might all fit in a '27 track T: A car that had maybe 10 wires in it in stock form, and not much room to mount the airbox off to...

    Performance Valve Body Modification

I'm assuming that someone was me in our other thread. Good info, and more people need to understand it. I know what it is and does, and how improvements can be made (on many forums, when there's a discussion of manual vs automatic transmissions, I tend to have to explain all this stuff to...

    Transmission Rebuilt Kit

Oh, I agree, and I'm not dissing your work. My main point is simply that even the guys making the stuff for domestics didn't start out high priced due to limited sales, and then drop their price as more people bought them. And yes, the stuff for a late model asian computer controlled...

    Auto Cross

I've been autocrossing up here since 1980, mostly in the Seattle area as part of the SCCA and BSCC (including time spent as an SCCa nd BSCC driving instructor), then over here on the east coast for a couple seasons. I've had all kinds of cars of my own out there on the track, from an MG...

    Transmission Rebuilt Kit

Yeah, but the $495 service is a one day turnaround on modding yours. Not like it takes a lot of time... Vicious cycle. If it were more popular, it'd be less expensive. But if it were less expensive, it'd be more popular... Even their valve body conversion for the relatively unpopular (in...

    1UZFE + carburator = ?

Phil, that looks like exact'y the setup that would work on my Comet project... Sure on a late model car, leaving the EFi in place is the best route, but on a street rod that had only like 10 wires in the whole car in stock form, and doens't have a side engine compartment for the stock 1UZ...

    Transmission Rebuilt Kit

Damn! They charge $495 for what is essentially the same thing that B&M charges $50 for for a Ford or GM transmission. So much for inexpensive upgrades in comparison to having done a 302/AOD swap...

Hi, All! I've been using the search engine on this site like crazy, and will continue to do so as my swap progresses. So much good information! But it's time to actually post... I'm putting a Lexus LS 1UZ in my 1963 Mercury Comet convertible (similar to the Aussie XP Falcon), to replace the...
