    Wet Sleeves

Nobody with half a brain uses a block guard on Honda or any other wet sleeve block. They distort the cylinder walls, provide no support where the true max cylinder wall loading is and contribute to over-heating. As far as putting a wet sleeve in these motors. Yes it is a great idea, but...

3 1UZ beasts in current ZOOM magazine

Clean car, but I would be pissed about the HP. There are many stock Hondas making that kind of power at the wheels. That T400 must be soaking up the power. I can't beleive he lost close to 100HP from that swap. Sounds like his computer needs to be tuned.

    Oil Jets

The Honda Integra Type R engine has piston squirters and I think the NSX engine has them as well. They are very useful in high compression street engines as well as turbocharged engines. I would just weld a boss to the oil galley so that it can then be tapped for a solid mounting.

    IR manfolds and adapter plates

Sorry I don't have the Factory ECU. I am going to go with Megasquirt. Since this engine is going in a race car that weighs 1500lbs I don't need nor do I want a bunch of bottom end torque. Bottom end torque also kills my transmission. There may be a way to use stock lower runners, I'll...

    Head flow rates.

Have him flow them at 28in of water. Don't let him flow them at 10in and try and convert that to 28in. If his bench can't handle that then I would seriously consider taking your business elsewhere. Huge flow numbers can indeed be a detriment if the port is just hogged out with no regard for...

    IR manfolds and adapter plates

We have all seen the price of the IR kits that use the Toyota 4AG throttle bodies. How much interest would there be in a set of adapter flanges that would allow you to bolt a set of motor cycle throttle bodies onto our heads. There would not be a normal manifold so this plate would basically...

    Head flow rates.

Yes the VW is not stock, but it is 50+ years old. I would like to get my hands on a set of Lexus heads and start playing with them to see what I can get out of them. Maybe after I finish the three other projects ahead of it.

    Rods...

Guys, I realize you are looking for some major power but how do we know the stock rods are not up to snuff? The wimpiest rods Honda makes can handle 200+ and they are like pencils compared to what is in the 1UZ. Stock B series rods can handle close to 400 with no changes. Surely our rods can...

    Head flow rates.

Those flow numbers are awful. What pressure drop was that? I have stock Honda head that flows more than that. I have a ported VW head that flows more than that through two valves.

    Vaccum and stock specs

I need engine vaccum readings at idle for the 1UZ motor. I also need the specs on torque and HP and at what rpms for the stock 1UZ. The Lextreme website links aren't working.

    Custom Forged Pistons & Rods

What is the distance on the top ring land? With such a low top ring you will run into problems with the worsening emissions. The crevice space allows more unburned mixture to hang out down there, thus leaving you engine as unburned hydrocarbons. You could also run into issues with top ring seal...

    SC400 or LS400 Radiator size

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to upsize my radiator choice.

    SC400 or LS400 Radiator size

Can Someone measure the dimensions of their SC400 or LS400 radiator? I need a width, thickness, and height. Trying to get a general idea of how much cooling area I can get away with.

    Oil pan and sump replacement

I have what I beleive to be a mid mount sump on my 1UZ. If came from a US SC400. Well some idiot dropped the engine or set it down hard on the oil pan and broke part of the flange around the lower oil pan. I am too lazy to tak it off and weld it up. Does anyone have any kind of sump that...

    Honda H22 Rods and Pistons

I would turn the crank down if it could get me the use of the Intergra Type R rod bearing, but that is a 1.800 diameter bearing so I don't see that happening. Maybe a custom 180 crank with that rod bearing.

Getting the 1UZ up to 9,000 RPM?

You can change piston speed by using a longer rod, but I really wouldn't worry about it. The stock ratio is 1.80 that is one of the best you can get. Outrunning the flame front is not a problem, especially if you have designed the combustion space for a fast, effiicent burn. The FI boys trun 18K...

Getting the 1UZ up to 9,000 RPM?

THe 1UZ has a nice rod ratio, so spinning it to 10K should not compromise the limits of piston speeds. My calculations show piston speed to max out at 8750 FPM 105 degrees into crankshaft rotation. That is with a 10K rpm limit. You guys should look at rods from an H22 Prelude engine. I belive...
