Lexus to R32 GTR... Wish me luck!

KazeSupra, I would probably agree, although I think this project is very cool anyway. Shuey, are you aware the Nissan already has their AWD system with a V8 (The FX45)? Is uses a auto tranny, but I would think that might be easier to swap out (with a GTR manual) then adapt a different engine...

Lexus to R32 GTR... Wish me luck!

Shuey, this is amazing work. About the sump: have you thought about just doing a dry sump, in hopes that you could pretty much eliminate a traditional oil pan, and just work on securing the differential to the block?

Standalone ECU 1UZFE 36-1 Trigger Wheel and Megasquirt

Perhaps if the cam sensor goes out, it can still run with missing tooth crank sensor, but in batch fire / watse fire. Just another way Toyota is looking out for us I guess.. John, do you have the AEM setup for the missing tooth motors?

    later 1uz lighter?

well, what year did the hydro fan pump get dropped?

    later 1uz lighter?

I wonder if the crank is a bit lighter as well. The early cranks are quite heavy, ~45 lbs if I recall. Maybe they took 5-10 lbs off that, 5-10 on getting rid of the hydraulic pump, some other changes.... it could all add up to 28.8 lbs.

    later 1uz lighter?

Maybe accessories got lighter. When did they ditch the hydraulic pump? Did the exhaust manifolds get smaller/ligher?

lexus v8 to getrag clutch-now available

If you have the OS giken for the 2JZGTE, it is possible to use it. It will require slotting the holes to match the bolt pattern for the 1UZ crankshaft, and it will also require milling off the teeth and grafying on the 1UZ ring gear. But it you want a 2 or 3 disc clutch (and you don't...

    1uz sleeves

Sorry, I am not aware of any sleeves that are ready to go for the 1UZ. Would like to know as well! Given the bore spacing, how much bigger do you think you can go?

    Standalone ECU Megasquirt

Looking at MegaSquirt II, the only thing I see lacking is the single ignition output. I wonder if they can do two outputs. They are working on a "router" board which will do fully sequential injection and ignition for 8 cylinders. One other thing that really caught my eye was another board...

Could 1UZ heads be modified to take VAG FSI system?

You need a fuel injector which is actually in the combustion chamber, much like a spark plug. That pretty much makes this impossible on our standard 1UZ heads. Besides, Toyota is already doing this with the new V6's, and I would be be shocked if they don't do it on the new V8's. May be better...

    Fuel management

Have you looked into something like MegaSquirt ECU? You are obviously very good at DIY, so it may be a good fit for you. The entry cost is quite cheap (I want to say somewhere around $300). You still might need bigger injectors (but I have no idea what size you have currently). I would also...

    4WD Lexus?

Assuming you would use more of the GM drivetrain for 4WD, where would you put the front diff? And the front (solid) axle? I would look at what JDM had in terms of a AWD GS400/GS430 if I were temped to use AWD.

    Toyota 5.7 Liters V8

Hemi, talk about marketing going overboard. The new "hemi" engines aren't even true hemi's as Chrysler realized a more modern combustion chamber design is actually better -but of course they want to stick with the "hemi" name. That SRT8 is the first Cherokee I have liked... but not enough to...

    Toyota 5.7 Liters V8

I bet once you remove all the engine covers, etc, there's probably lots of room there. I would expect the chain driven motors to be slightly more compact than the belt driven ones. It's intersting to see Toyota move to a ne V8 design. Hopfully we can more more details in the future.

Are we ready for 5.0 1UZFE?

If you want big displacement, I think the best approach is to probably wait fot the next Tundra (2007?) and jump on that motor. With any luck, Toyota will still use the same basic layout as the 1/2/3UZ motors and parts will be interchangable. A factory designed 5.7l, add forged internals...

    Its EMS Time! cool!

Ahh, that's what I suspected, no sequential injection. You can trigger on just about anything thats consistent then. Hell, throw points in the dizzy! Seriously, the cam gear tooth is probbaly enough for what you need.

Are we ready for 5.0 1UZFE?

In the age of MLS gaskets I don't see any reason why one would ever want to do anything remotely related to o-rings for combustion chambers. There are engines out there running 250 HP per cylinder on MLS gaskets, why would we need anything else?
