Project Thread Vortech on a tired 1UZ-FE

LOL. It's never enough.:) I warned you about the heat. I'm surprised it doesn't get higher. Maybe due to the fact that it's a bigger unit. You could get a Suprastick maybe, not sure how many solenoids your transmission has. Don't use washer fluid. It does work but Methanol is cheap...

    Knock sensor wire part number?

Thanks for the info! I ended up calling Carson Toyota. They said it wasn't showing up either and they said they checked the starter harness as well. But, they were good enough to actually call Toyota for me and ask! They did call me back with a number, which I left at work. I'll try and post...

    Knock sensor wire part number?

Have a knock sensor code on my 95 SC400. Would like to replace the sensors and the sub harness that connects them to the main harness. But, my local Lexus parts department is stupid and can't find the sub harness. If anyone knows the part number that would be great. Thanks, KC

1 psi at 3k might not be so off. Mine makes about 3 psi at 3k with a pulley that makes 12psi at redline. Also keep in mind that most pulleys boost is calculated using a 6.5 inch crank pulley and ours are only 5.5 inches (mine at least). I'd be willing to bet that the EGR is leaking. For a...

That's the sweet thing about the fish and a Vortech. Mine would be similar but I've spent allot on everything else. But the Vortech was 900 used on ebay the fish was 100. Add a 100-200 for the piping and misc stuff and you can easily have a low boost Lexus! KC

Good, so you have a hot wire MAF not a KV MAF then. I don't think pressure will bother the hot wire at all. Worst case, it might leak air past the o-ring but if it did it wouldn't hurt anything. Mine was actually leaking through the MAF which I'm pretty sure was screwing up the readings. I...

Thermactor, couple of comments/suggestions. You're lucky you don't have the coolant tank in the way, my piping has two extra 45's in it that it looks like you can avoid. I don't think you'll be able to run the pipe over the upper radiator hose. Definately not enough room on mine, make sure...

My pipe is all ebay stuff. Just intercoolers I THINK, can't remember. They sell kits but if you contact them they can arrange anything you want. The kits will probably have things you won't need and will likely be missing some stuff you do need. Maybe you could use PVC for mock up but I'm not...

Nice! I like your pulley setup, its a bit different than mine but looks like you have pretty good belt wrap. Keep an eye on the belt for awhile to make sure the alignment is good. I went through a few before I got it 100% right. You might not need it with low boost but you should consider...

I used the stock control for quite awhile w/o any problems. I started running a little hot recently and switched over to a simple Hayden controller, like $20 at Advanced Auto. Turned out that my problem was the wiring to the fan and not the controller though. I used a relay hooked to the...

    New best 1/4 mile - SC400!

Steve, sometimes you just need to take a drive.... I've gone as far as 3+ hours to get to a track. The only track really near me is Zmax (1/4) and Mooresville (1/8). Zmax is a newer track, completed last year, and they are hardly ever open. I have to drive 2 hours most of the time to run the...

    New best 1/4 mile - SC400!

I found it kind of interesting (odd) myself. Was actually a tad warmer, about the same humidity I think, pressure - not sure, recent track a tad lower - maybe 50-100 feet. There is always other factors, may have had nothing to do with the mufflers. I also was running a little hot last time due...

    New best 1/4 mile - SC400!

Thanks guys. JBrady, interesting note. Refresh. EKT headers, no cats 2.5 exhaust mandrel bent. I did have one tru-x muffler and two straight through Magnaflows in the back. I took out the two in the back so I now only have the tru-x muffler. Seems to have added about 2mph 1/8 mile and 3mph 1/4...

    New best 1/4 mile - SC400!

    I'll go into more detail later and post the slips but went like this. RT -.015 oops, trying to get the triple 0's. 60 ft - 1.788 330 ft - 5.056 1/8 - 7.754 1/8 mph - 90.12 1000 ft - 10.1 1/4 - 12.063 1/4 mph - 115.2 It has 11's in it. If I would have duplicated the 7.703 I ran a few months...

If you have the money and space to keep it, I would say go ahead and get the motor but keep it just in case. If your current one does ok, build the spare up as you have the time / money. Then put it in and shoot for 20-30 psi!:D KC

As long as you align the belt for 6 of the ribs AND the grooves in the pulley are pretty deep, you should be fine. I ran mine with the 7-rib pulley without issue for awhile. I wouldn't think so, not more than the ECU can compensate for anyway. KC

    The Fish

Hey guys. I know it's been a million years since I've udpated this thread but I have been busy as of late and thought I'd share. I ran a 7.703 not to long ago, 1/8 mile. Should (maybe) get me high 11's in the 1/4. Video is on youtube. Haven't been able to run the 1/4 yet. Weather has not...

Here's where I bought my pulley. http://www.superchargerupgrades.com/ I have the 2.25 if I remember right. I have the 7 rib pulley that I was using laying around somewhere, I think it was a 2.4. Smaller than you want I know but the above sight was allot of options. I also have one of these...

    1UZ mods with factory ECU

Steve, didn't you just blow the head gasket? Or, did you actually break something? Yes, the MaftPro is a piggyback. It's a translator that allows one to eliminate the MAF sensor and use a MAP sensor instead. Works pretty good. In all fairness, I think I've been very lucky with my car. Not...

    1UZ mods with factory ECU

I am running about 12 psi on the stock ECU in my 95 SC400, using a MaftPro ONLY for fuel tuning. Been daily driving it for over 2 years now. 200+ track runs. The only thing I've managed to blow so far is the transmission. KC
