I might try to do up a set from scratch after I get this thing drivable. I just started another project. My 87 4runner just blew a head gasket and I happen to have a motor that needs a home. If it doesn't take too long to make a set from scratch, I might consider.
Didn't really work out well, but the 4.6 headers might work better. I ended up spending a day pretty much reworking both sides. Starting from scratch would have been easier.
picked up a few for around $30 so far. Yeah, I just sent him a PM, but yeah, probably a little more than $30 from him.
I picked on up last saturday for free...sorta. Pulled a 1uz from a yard for $150 and they gave the the bellhousing with it. Gotta luv cheap 1uz's.
they might work, but still require a little work since the ports don't line up. Your drivers side(right side)will still need to be redone due to engine mount.
Well the mustang headers were a complete bust. Maybe the 4.6 would have been better. The passenger side hit the motor mount, which caused pretty much everything have to be completely re-done. The drivers side cleared the motor mount, but not the steering.
Basically I ended up cuttting...
Fully agree there. I may actually consider it for my application, since I do plan on running up to 8,000RPM on a cast flywheel, with some big cams, I could even run higher. Below 7500, on a unmodified setup, I wouldn't bother.
you know what would be cool if it could fit.
A K22 head. That would really wake up a UZ motor. Would be absoultly insane. Pretty much race ready stock.
The Tundra collector hits on firewall. Not the vertical part of the firewall, but the 45 degree where the ECU sits, and that is even after cutting the flange off and about 2" of the collector. No way it is even close, at least on the SC400. I would assume that the LS's and GS's would be...
The collector is too high by about 4" I should have added that to the comparison picture since I have a set of those too.
To move the collector down would require pretty much starting from scratch.
The tundra headers are also NOT equal length where as these are.
Tundra headers are also 1...
you could probably request USPS and it would be cheaper.
Let me see how things fit before anyone goes out and buys anything. ALTHOUGH if someone wants to try the 4.6 3v, be my guest.
What sucks is that for many other vehicles you can get headers for less than $300. These mustang headers are $230. Why don't we have them for our cars for that price.
on a positive displacement supercharger, the more air there is to keep above atmospheric pressure the harder the charger has to work and the hotter your charge will be.
I am not 100% on this theory, but it seems likely.
water/air allows for less volume since there is minimal if any piping.
So I am concerned about sound an performance on my build and spent hours listening to youtube clips on exhausts. There is quite a bit that goes into making exhaust sound a certain way, right down to how thick and what composits are used.
One thing I really wanted was a header, but more to be...
not worried about the heat. Forged alum pistons can handle more than any of use would throw at them as long as you have a proper tune.
The only advantage of TI if lighter is for higher revs.
