    SC400 Gross Speedo Error

Is it off the same at all speeds, say 10 mph reads 15 high, 60 mph reads 15 high? It does return to 0 when stopped? If trip odo is good and speedo is off there must be an issue in the cluster. They are usually fed off the same signal.

    SC400 Gross Speedo Error

Are the shift points normal and speedo wrong? Do you have access to a scantool to read the ECU's #'s vs what you read on the speedo? I have heard the GS400's have the speedo run off the front wheels' ABS sensors. Got any ABS faults? a dirty ABS sensor might be sending erroneous data to the...

    When to change valve springs?

Was wondering when most people consider changing valvsprings? My 1UZ-FE (VVTi) has stock springs and I am at 176k miles. I will be doing a timing belt/water pump this summer, but wonder if I should budget in new springs. I don't spin it high all the time, but would like to keep it in top...

A650E.. can kickdown be adjusted ?

Were Aussie cars set the same as JDM? From what I gathered some GM cars that went to Australia from the US were JDM cars and had the 2 sec downshift delay (Cadillac STS) that drives a of people nuts.

    A650E temp gauge test port

I would like to do that on mine too, engine oil temp and trans temp both. Engine oil is sorta easy, look at this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PLNDF2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3Q5L29ROA0I31 Trans shouldn't be bad, get a t-fitting and put in the cooler lines. I would...

    Lexus/Toyota V8 oil weights?

Don't have any idea, but SM spec is still SM spec. There is at least a min std. There are plenty of other factors (NOACK % loss, fire point, freeze point, etc). The higher the fire point and flash point, the less coke created, as it will handle the high ring temps better. It is NOT uncommon...

    Lexus/Toyota V8 oil weights?

I stand behind the darker the oil the more there is a ring problem with the engine. Synthetic will do better (most synthetics stay clear much longer) because the film strength is much much stronger. As the oil burns at the rings (harder driving really heats up rings a lot), the oil burns or...

    63 impala (1uz or 2jz?)

It will work, but they often snap axles, and you get some very dangerous handling in wet or snow in corners. It probably isn't worth it from a safety standpoint. I don't know if the diff in the LS, or even GS would lend itself to a diff from another brand. I need to get one to take apart...

    63 impala (1uz or 2jz?)

The Fleetwood had traction control so LSD was not allowed. The B Bods were all sans traction control so the LSD was an option. It is just a RPO option (look for G80 in the SPID). GU8 is 3.90's, so it won't be that. GT1 is 2.56's, GU3 is 2.93's and GU3 is 3.08's (9C1/9C6/Impy SS). I would...

    63 impala (1uz or 2jz?)

I miss mine, mine has 250k miles, is the rare V4P 7000 lb tow package car with 3.42's factory. it does burnouts REAL good!!!! 15.2@95 mph according to the datalogger. Not bad for >5000 lbs race weight. V4P cars have factory HD springs, sway bars, other HD stuff, (special 4L60E) and I added...

    63 impala (1uz or 2jz?)

they killed the Atlas I6? Bummer, nice engine. The PCM is fully tuneable with EFILive, not sure it will handle boosted, will have to look and see what I find in EFILive or Tunercat. Isn't GM ironic, something good they get rid of, something that sucks for quality, they keep forever.... I...

    Lexus/Toyota V8 oil weights?

The clearances are only part of it from what I have dug up. Surface polish has a lot to do too. It isn't just tight, that probably has less to do with it than we would have expected. Pump volume too, a low volume pump will have a harder time with the higher flow rate of the thinner oil, so if...

    Lexus/Toyota V8 oil weights?

My GS400 has pretty clear oil after 10k miles with Mobil 1 0W30, and a little darker with Quaker State 5W30 synthetic at 10k miles. I am running 5W20 petroleum oil now and again, slightly darker at 5k than the others ever got. Good ring seal is key to clear oil. If your rings leak or...

    Lexus/Toyota V8 oil weights?

What is the OEM recommended oil weights for the Lex/Toy V8's around the world? Is it the same? In the US most all from 2006-up are 0W20 or 5W20. Before that was 5W30. But say in Australia, or Europe, or ? Is it the same oil weight recommendation? I have a 1UZ-FE in my 98 GS400 and...

    VVT and VVTi 1UZ-FE specs

Thanks, didn't know. I was thinking my sister in laws 94 Camry 2.2 was VVT, I remember putting the cam in when I put in a new piston and rings/bearings (yes you HAVE to check the oil and change it more than every 40k miles.....) So I assumed they all were. I would see references to VVT...

    VVT and VVTi 1UZ-FE specs

I am looking for some details on the 1UZ-FE VVTi engine for my Desktop Dyno program. I need cyl head flow Chamber size Cam Specs (as much detail as possible) Once I get a good baseline I can do boosted models too. And if anyone has the 97 and older 1UZ-FE specs, I am open to doing them...

How many CFM can we flow?

Any idea what engine this was done on? I am looking for intake/exhaust flow data on the 1UZ-FS VVTi heads. I have a model in Desktop Dyno I am working on. With what I have so far it isn't far off at all, but right now torque peak is a little low and a little high rpm.

    Oil Pressure lines?

Mine's a 98 VVTi engine if that makes a diff. I want to install a bypass oil filter, so I need the oil for it.
