Justen,
The reason I asked about the liners is because I have a small concern about my block being bored to 0.020" which will leave me 0.177'" (4.4958mm) cylinder liner wall thickness. I have considered re-sleeving with this overbore to get the walls up to 7 mm or so. It is easy enough for me to...
Toys,
Thanks for that. The input I have received so far also indicates the rear should hold up. It is a G series "G375 (axle code)" Toyota which looks like it is a 4 pinion LSD.
The Garrett turbos will run in the 2.0 pressure ratio range with about 30 lbs/min air flow each it looks like. Time...
Justen,
In your last post I saw an interesting comment about block failure from 800+ hp engines. Was cylinder sleeve wall thickness a factor in this? Thanks again for your differential comments, you probably saved me a few grand.
Justin,
I will return to the correct thread for this. Thank you very much for the information I do have a G series center with LSD stock from Toyota. It is the 8 inch V-6/4cyl turbo rear end from what I understand. I have had a conversation with Eric at River City Differentials (Rancho Cordova...
Toys,I respect the information in your posts. I would like to get your ideas in one of my other posts (drivetrains). It is about how a Toyota 8 inch rear end can be beefed up and if it would be good for 500 rwhp after modification or should I just bite the bullet one time and change to a Ford 9...
I am not staying under 500 hp and these are not off the shelf turbos. There are custom cut wheels. Let's just wait and see what these "little turbos" do in the real world.
A question was PM'ed to me about the Garrett turbos that I decided to use. I will answer the PM. The turbos are Garrett GT25R with comp. A/R .71 and turbine A/R .68.
bubs,
I might be overreacting but here are the details. I am in the middle of a transplant of a 1UZ into a Toyota Prerunner (Hilux) and fear that the stock rear end will not hold up to 500 plus ft/lbs torque that the engine will be able to produce.
As far as I know it is an 8 inch Toyota rear...
Does anyone know of a source for parts to increase the strength of a Toyota 8 inch rear end? It is installed stock in the 2wd truck (turbo-diesel and V-6) as well as maybe the 76-95 Celica, Supra and 4-Runner. I need to have it stong enough for 500-600 ft/lbs torque. I do not want to change it...
As a follow up. I have purchased the injectors I needed directly from Jim at Injector perfector. They are 550 cc, low impedance from an RX7. This is a great resource for me. The price quoted locally was $1,371.00 for a set from RC through a speed shop. The in country agent for RC quoted...
I am in the process of my first parts order from Lextreme. This site is a great resource for information and parts. Because of this site I was able to also find parts from Rush, Bullet, Dellow and Injector Perfector.
Keep up the great work Dave.
Lex,
I did just that. Jim got back to me in a day and has said he can organize the whole thing. It was a great lead. I will have the injectors I want and they will have been checked by an expert. Thanks.
I see now that the Rx7 550cc injectors come in both low and high impedance. I had thought they were only high. I will have to check to see if I can find them here or not. BTW the RC injectors were quoted at $90.00 USD ea. if any one wanted to know. What should I expect for price for the Rx7's...
I am changing out my stock injectors for R.C. low impedance 550 cc. injectors. The hp goal is 500 rwhp with about a 60% duty cycle on the injectors. My ECU (Autronics SM4) can operate high and low impedance injectors.
Anyone have experience or comments about these injectors? The R. C. part...
Mark,
I am installing the Carrillo rods available through Lextreme. Actually Hillbilly on this site is the one that convinced me to change my rebuild plans. I was going to go with a stock engine and have about 6 psi boost. It is now a total rebuild for the engine (90% of the parts through Lex)...
Blizzy,
The GT25R was selected for my project. It would have enough air flow for any rwhp I wanted, even more than 500 rwhp. The A/R is .68 and it is a hybrid. There are many people on this forum that are very talented turbo people, I am not one of them. This is my first turbo.
What I was...
For the project I am in the middle of I went with a R151F, 5 speed transmission, Autronics SM4 ECU, Twin Garrett GTR25's. The plan was to use stock compression pistons and a thicker MLS head gasket with about 6 psi boost. Things being as they are, everything changed. Now it is Ross 8.5 pistons...
