Remove water pump and thermostat housing

Doing new timing belt etc. and I can't get those damn things off! I broke off one of the pump lift ears already.. how do get these to loosen up and come off?

    LS400 without power steering?

Anybody? I'd love to ditch the PS for racing, but dunno if I'd regret it or not. I'm down to ~3200lb but have a smaller race steering wheel. It would let me ditch all the idlers and tensioners and just run the alternator belt.

    LS400 1996 Steering issue

Probably not an issue.. due to suspension design, the inside wheel in a sharp turn can scrub a bit. As to high speed, the car should be pretty solid - I've had 2, and race one currently and its rock solid. Have the alignment done, make sure the tires are decent and properly inflated and you...

Can a LS engine and trans come out together?

I've got an engine crane ("Cherry Picker") and will give it a go! The fun bit will be the whole wiring harness. not looking forward to that bit!

Can a LS engine and trans come out together?

I'm swapping in a 99 GS 1uz in to my 91 LS. Is it possible to take the engine and tranny out in one go, or do they have to get separated? (I don't have a lift - its just on jack stands)

    Eliminating cats

Thanks.. My newest motor is a VVTi from a US 1998 GS400 - I presume that counts as early?

    Eliminating cats

I did cross over, dual mufflers and side exit just ahead of the rear wheels... fit fine on the LS, though not a lot of extra room. Its a race car, but could probably get away with that setup on the street - its not too loud.

    Eliminating cats

Yeah, but is the 2nd o2 just a tattle-tale light, or does it affect mixture programme (like making it go rich for instance)... Would be nice to ditch the secondary O2 and take the wires out of the harness if not needed.

    Fuel Pressure Regulator for VVTi

Why 60psi? aren't all Toyota EFI (and most others) like 42PSI?

    1UZ VVti Wiring Diagrams (98-00 LS400)

Thanks a bunch! Wiring isn't my strong suit, and I'm a little chicken to dive into my swap. Mines a bit unique in that I'm putting a 99 GS400 engine and trans into a 91 LS400. I have the full wiring harness (engine and body) from the GS, but not quite sure how to marry the two together. I'd...

    "new" 1999 GS400 - High Idle

Well, I'm guessing at the moment because the car is 200km away! When I get to it, I'll stop guessing ;)

    "new" 1999 GS400 - High Idle

Oh, I hope not that... would that be the pedal sensor? My guy that picked up the car said it was just high idle, but was able to drive it around. I planned to pull the driveline to put in my 91' LS, but will try to fix this before I move it all over. It was hit in the front, so maybe broke (Maf...

    "new" 1999 GS400 - High Idle

Hi all, just got a "new" driveline donor. Currently in stock but somewhat smashed condition. It fires up and runs fine, but with a very high idle - is there a common cause for that? Thx

    13 second E85 naturally aspirated 1UZ build

the 2.0TFSI is the new motor... mine is an old 1.8t, not direct injection.. Even my old one makes way more power and torque anywhere in the rev range than an early 1UZ. My lex is down to 3200lb, and my 1.8T Audi is way, way faster. Mine has just bolt-ons (bought new), and makes over 300hp/tq...

    13 second E85 naturally aspirated 1UZ build

Easy answer sounds like swapping in a 2.0l TFSI 4cyl motor... more hp and torque than the v8, double it without trouble and better economy to boot... Not like Lexus engineers were leaving a bunch of efficiency on the table to be picked up in the stock config. The Lex is not very mod friendly...

    Building my transmission adapter

Woah, that's some fine work.. more than just an "adapter"... What would that cost to machine? That's one big billet and lots of time in it looks like. Too big for my little mill I bet!
