thanks guys, the only issue i see is the brake booster which is huge. Probably get a smaller 7 inch one

Has any one done a conversion on an e28 5 series? i know theres been e30, e36 etc. From what i can see is the brake booster is a problem. The steering box also may be in the way. Ill have a look on some bm forums about changing to rack and pinion. Thanks for any help.

Your right, you should get what you paid for. It just depends if theres a time issue. I saw a quote from Carrol Smith (engineer to win) something like, If the machine shop makes it wrong they eat it, if you gave them the wrong dimensions you eat it. I think you'll be going hungry.

so basically they haven't allowed for the angle of the previous engine. Can you rotate the the gearbox to vertical i.e different mounts?
