    valve shims

I found when I did mine that a few could be used in other locations, by chance. Ended up needing 3, I just ordered them at the toyota spares counter.

    Possible Ebay Scam

Looks to me like he's just used your picture to sell his car. Sounds like a bit of a tosser in his add anyway.

Bypass V Blow Off valve operation

Illegal hey, didn't think of that. What's the legaility, noise pollution? Guess I'll plumb it then either way, rather not be cop bait (more than an obviously supercharged V8 sound is heheh)

Wanted WANTED: after market ecu & headers for 1UZFE

There is a wanted section you know ;) Odds of getting a second hand Adaptronic are pretty slim. Good luck though.

That's what I have! (kinda) Cept it can still seat 5, take me camping, hunting, to work, off and on road fun..... Ultimate all round vehicle I reckon (once it's flaws are sorted.) I can now run the bogans in their SS's for fun, or do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSooXqhodts Camera...

1986 toyota pickup... my 3rd 1UZ swap project.

Wow, jeeze you can get it low in a 2WD! I can barely shut my bonnet and the motor is only an inch off the steering. Gearbox's I can't comment on in regards to the W series, never touched them. My first thought would have been R154 Supra.

Nooooooooo..... I'll keep nagging ya with my theory! After being 'able' to invest $10k in air intake and exhausting, surely a stocker long block won't be too much financial salt in the wound? If it's sitting there not running for a long time, it's just a bad memory. A pain in the ass...

Well said. But I still reckon spend the $800 on a stocker for now on mild boost and get to love the vehicle again! Shelve the other for the now till the frustration and marriage heals. Then when you want to start on it again I'll buy the old stocker off you ;)

Bypass V Blow Off valve operation

So if vacuum opens them like a bypass valve, why can you get blow off valves with different 'psi' springs? I would like one that only opens when the throttle closes and there's boost in the system, not from only vacuum. Impossible?

    1uzfe still a mystery

Could be a mass air flow sensor problem too. Try unplugging it when it's playing up and see what happens when you drive. I did this on mine when it was undriveable all of a sudden one day. Soon as I unplugged the MAF it went great so I knew that was the problem.

Adjusting lash Q, (stage 2 regrinds)

Try and fid the shim part numbers grid/table (again, I'm sure I got it on the net just not sure where.) It gives you the thickness for each part number. Then when you work out what ones you want, order those part numbers. I took the printed table to my local parts desk and he knew what I...

Bypass V Blow Off valve operation

Are these the exact same thing? What's the difference if any? I have one of those Bosch type bypass valves (adjustable) which is vented to the atmo at the moment. Fitted to a centrifugal blower system. I love the blow off sound at high revs, but I hate how the thing opens constantly on a...

Adjusting lash Q, (stage 2 regrinds)

There's a few ways, I 'think' there's a DIY guide on the net somewhere. You need a special tool to compress the bucket, then you get the shim out. They only sit in the seat, there's nothing holding them, but the oil underneath them can act as a vacuum. What I did was use something with a tiny...

Adjusting lash Q, (stage 2 regrinds)

You wouldn't bother machining shims. Just work out the sizes you need and buy from Toyota, they're not overly dear.

$750 for a stocker at Ichiban, drop one in for now and get to love it again! We'll go to stocko and take a couple of the non 4WD boys to show em what it's like ;) Then you can chip away at the Hulk version as the motivation returns. 7psi in my big 4Runner is fun enough, 10psi on a stocker for...
