    Fuel pump?

This is exactly what my 1uz was doing, except I traced it to the injectors - as the engine hadn't run for 10+ years, they were all gummed up. BUT it is the same symptoms:it fires up OK, but stops within a few seconds ( at most). I would be checking the 12 volts to the injectors. If you use a...

    removal of throttle body

I'd be wary of removing them. I live in Canberra, which is considered "mild" - we do have some days below zero (Celsius). But I have had a carby throttle body freeze - and it wasn't on an especially cold day. I was motoring briskly on a freeway after a long stop. car was going well, until I...

    Modifying Powersteer Pump

...Or the pinion lash (free play) is adjusted up too tight. But I wouldn't imagine there would be any need to adjust this when doing a swap. The 1uZ wasn't dropped on the rack during the swap was it? But for my money, as Muzza said, jack it up and see if it's binding at any point during a full...

    Modifying Powersteer Pump

OK so far... Mine IS a Crown (mid-sump). Why I was asking is because the Crown had a steering box and linkages, not a rack, so hence my question above about all pumps being the same. Ie, would a pump for a steering box be the same as one for a rack? But it does sound a s though the pump I have...

    Modifying Powersteer Pump

next question, then - on LX180's behalf.. Are the pumps essentially the same between the varying models the 1UZ's came out of? LX180, what model is your 1UZ out of?

    Cleaning maf

I'll second that. I have a K&N on my Holden Commodore - similar MAF setup. It uses a precision restitance to measure air flow. I used the recommended oil and in the recommended quantities in the K&N. Car went well for a while then started to hesitate on moderate acceleration. After a LOT of...

    Wanted WTB: Power Steering Pump

I have one. I am not sure if ads4095 wants it. I emailed him, but no reply. What is a good price anyway? This one is from a Crown, but only has 80,000k's on it. No leaks that i can see (well, the alternator works!). When I got the 1/2 cut it had ben standing for at least 6 years. The power...

1989 Crown Royal 1/2 cut wont start.

Yeah, thanks peewee. I can't post much more, cause I haven't got much more to post! Besides, the front of it looks much better than the rest (was), judging by the pictures from Google. I did some dismantling on the weekend. Found a "Speed Limit Defenser" connected to the ECU. Googled it (yes...

    Dismantling a 1989 Crown

This is the hydraulics I was talking about: The pump (that runs for about 10 - 20 seconds, when the ignition is switched on) is below the fluid reservoir in the upper left of the picture. The black cylinder to the right of the reservoir is a rubber sleeve over I don't know. Possibly a...

Here is a picture of mine. The inner lights are foggies, it has clear indicators, air suspension, electronic dash etc - all in 1989!

    Wanted Log manifolds for 1UZ

They don't look real hitech. How hard are they to make? Looking at the ones one my Crown, they're pretty restrictive. Still, they do fit in a very tight spot and enable an easy swap. BTW, what are they worth?

    Wanted WTB: Power Steering Pump

How did you go? I am stripping a 1989 Crown. Would the PS pump be the same? I am in Canberra.

    Dismantling a 1989 Crown

Nah. That's viscous coupling. Removed that on the weekend (without removing the radiator). I will follow the hydraulic lines more closely tonite - it's got to be some sort of ABS. There's way too many hydraulic lines for anything else. I will put up a picture tomorrow.

    Dismantling a 1989 Crown

Hi All: I am dismantling a 1989 Crown and learning a lot about these cars as I go! When I started,I noticed a hydraulic pump in the right hand guard, and noticed that the various hoses seem to go to the suspension units. So, I thought... Hydraulic suspension. Fair enough. Upon further...

RE - Starting Issue 1UZ-FE - Fuel Pump?

I went through this last week. Same issue, same solution, same advice, same forum! On my Crown 1/2 cut there is two fuel pipes under the left floor: the lower of the two is the fuel line, the upper one is the return line. Easiest way to tell is to connect your CARBY fuel pump up to one of the...

1989 Crown Royal 1/2 cut wont start.

Thanks for the tips. I agree, Rod - do the injectors etc, while it's still in the 1/2 cut - then start it to make sure everything is still OK. Then do the cam belt, probably after the engine is out of the 1/2 cut. same time as I clean it up, decide how the redo the serpentine belt etc. (no PS...

1989 Crown Royal 1/2 cut wont start.

Answered my own question, didn't I.... From the WitchHunter site: " If injectors are stuck after sitting for a short time, sometimes a "tap" with a small hammer on the metal body can free it." Well, there ya go!

1989 Crown Royal 1/2 cut wont start.

Thanks, but I did mention I am using a temporary fuel pump. Managed to get a VL pump - working, for $25. I have set it up with it's own battery, inlet filter, 1 litre "tank" etc. As I said above, I figured that the injectors were/are clogged or "varnished" closed. I can see that dismantling the...
