Have you checked the continuity of the solenoids? S1 and S2 are both connected to ground internally and use one pin each one the 6 pin connector. S3 and S4 are isolated from everything else and use 2 pins each on the 6 pin connector. The resistance of the on/off S1/S2 solenoids are different...

As far as I know, they are much the same box except the the 150 has the lower first gear which you would want for a 4WD, with the 151 having an even the lower first and the 154 having the tallest ie to suit a car or big engined 4WD like the 78/9 series TD Cruiser which has the 154 aswell.
