    Reverse gear is slipping

Thanks for the suggestion Sideshow. I double-checked the wiring diagram and pin-outs, but everything's where it should be. Thanks for the comprehensive reply Nemisonic :) I ended up testing all the wires coming and going to the transmission with a multimeter and they all had continuity. I...

    Reverse gear is slipping

The ECU came with the engine and original transmission along with the wiring loom and igniters. I'm not 100% sure what the transmission I have on there now is from, but it's a 30-41LE and is identical to the one I took off. The problem started happening with my original gearbox out of the blue...

    Reverse gear is slipping

I've tested the sensor with a multimeter and it's ok - which makes sense, since the problem only happens when the sensor is plugged in. I'm confident the sensor is ok, since with it plugged in the car shifts through the forwards gears perfectly, but with it unplugged, I'm stuck in first (when...

    Reverse gear is slipping

Sideshow, you're a genius! I removed the neutral switch from the gearbox, kept it in park, and plugged it in (so that I could start the car, but it would always think I was in park). I then removed all the other plugs and tested reverse gear. The problem was gone! So I plugged things in one by...

    Reverse gear is slipping

Thanks for the suggestion :) I'm chasing that sensor from the guy I bought the replacement gearbox from - Hopefully he has it lying around somewhere (when I bought the box, he had a few sensors on loosely and the bellhousing + stall converter off). I doubt it's a mechanical problem with the...

    Reverse gear is slipping

I've replaced my gearbox (and replaced my rear main seal while I was at it...). The vibrations from the old box are gone, but I'm still having another problem that I was having with the old box. Reverse gear intermittently disengages, as though it's cutting in and out between neutral and...

Parts 1uzfe auto box or bellhousing

Hey Mate, My gearbox is slipping in reverse, so I've tracked down another box (being sent from Sydney as we speak). When it arrives and I've done the swap I'll let you know. I won't need the old one. I'm in Labrador on the Gold Coast. Andrew

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

Thanks mshawari1 Yeah, they're still light truck tyres (185/80R14). I pretty much have no choice with a commercial vehicle :( The problem is that in Queensland Australia, the laws are so strick on what you can change to. It's all about load-rating. Unfortunately there's pretty much no tyre I...

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

Thanks Sniper! Here's some photos of the exhaust, just incase anyone out there want's to get ideas for their project. I've gone with: - 2.25" dual exuasts - through a 2 into 1 catalytic converter - then out as 2.5" through a muffler It's all press-bent and mild steel (mostly due to budget)...

    Reverse gear is slipping

Ok, so I've done the complete flush through with 12 Litres of Toyota T-IV ATF. Still the same problem: When it's cold, everything's fine. But when it's hot, reverse slips like crazy for about 5 seconds then disengages completely into neutral. I'm giving up on it and saving for another...

    Reverse gear is slipping

I had another play with it. Reverse seems to be good when it's cold, and when it's hot it feels like it jerks in and out between reverse and neutral quite abruptly. Any insight would be much appreciated.

    Reverse gear is slipping

Hey, I've got a 1UZ and Auto (A341E / 30-41LE) in a 1981 Hilux. Recently I've almost lost reverse. All the other gears are strong and working perfectly, but in reverse it will even roll down a hill forwards. I need to rev it to around 2000rpm before it will engage at all, then it creeps...

    Help Identifying 3-Bolt Flange

Sorry, the code on the side of the transmission is "30-41LE", if that helps.

    Help Identifying 3-Bolt Flange

I have a 1UZ-FE and Auto from a 1991 Soarer in a 1981 2wd Hilux. I recently replaced the output shaft and extension housing on the transmission ("30-40LE" or "a341e") after cracking the extension housing with a badly vibrating tailshaft (that's been fixed). Unfortunately, the 3-bolt flange on...

    1UZ + 1981 2WD Hilux

Well, it turns out that my tailshaft extension was a bad idea (surprise!!)... I ended up putting some power down with the tailshaft vibrating, and cracked the extension housing on the transmission into 8 pieces. Luckily I was able to buy another one with the output shaft attached from a...

    Auto Box Gears

2 The auto behind a 1UZ has 3 gears plus overdrive, so in "D" there's a shift between 1st and 2nd, then another between 2nd and 3rd. You have to manually switch to overdrive with the switch on your center console. Andrew

Swap Soarer / Chaser auto output shaft?

Does anybody know if the rear bolt-on bit of casing and output shaft are interchangable between the v8 soarer auto gearbox (a341e) and the one on a 1998 vvti 1JZ chaser (I'm not 100% of the gearbox code, but I think it's possibly an a341e aswell)? I've cracked/shattered mine with a dodgy...
