    Testing Leads

Is it possible to get a pic of the magnecor ones? I've always wanted to use them, but they never used to have them.

    Testing Leads

Most of the leads on imported motors are the originals. Even if they are open circuit the spark will still jump the 0.5mm or so and continue down to the spark plug. Its also possible that while the lead was on the motor it wasn't open circuit, but as you removed/pulled/played with it, it broke...

    1uzfe still a mystery

Can I ask why you using the LS400 harness and ecu? Wouldn't that have just caused masses of headaches? Why didn't you use the SC400 loom/ecu on the LS400 motor?

    Another Surging Idle Thread

Highly unlikely the AFM is causing a problem, it doesn't have much to do with the idle circuit. The hunting happens when the revs get to about 2500, AND the TPS is in IDL mode. ie, the ecu is unable to control the idle (via the ISCV) and cuts fuel when the revs get to 2500 and turns the...

    NCOP regs - AUSTRALIA

Its my understanding that the NCOP reduces an engineers ability to certify anything he likes. Gone are the days where as long as you had an engineers report the guys at the pits would accept it. The engineers now have to work inside the NCOP guidelines, which for the most part are rarely open...

    NCOP regs - AUSTRALIA

Interesting. Historically speaking NSW has always been the strictest when it comes to putting larger engines in, I wonder why the change.

    NCOP regs - AUSTRALIA

As long as you are running a stock ecu, 'stock' engine (ie, sounds/looks stock), a catalytic converter, and a charcoal canister then I don't believe they'll ask for an IM240 test. Stray outside the above, and they'll ask for one. (edit: missed your 'modified' comment)

    NCOP regs - AUSTRALIA

AFAIK WA is the only state that is 100% following the NCOP's. From your post it sounds like ACT is too? QLD was talking about it, but haven't come on board yet (they still have that $50 mod plate system...) NSW and VIC last I heard refused to follow the NCOP. TAS was following NCOP to a...

    Normal running coolant temperature.

Its more the thread size of the sensor that needs to be matched. Plugs can be swapped over easily. I run a TFS106 on all my conversions (when I use thermo's)

Parts Full engine wiring loom UZZ31 Soarer. Perth Western Australia.

I'm not in need of one, but it may help your sale to say whether the ECU, AFM, Ignitors, or any other bits are available, or whether its just the loom. Judging from the post its just the loom, but I thought I'd clarify. If its just the loom, then I'd say somewhere around the $100 mark is a...

    Normal running coolant temperature.

You need to replace the switch with one that is designed to come on at a different temperature. http://www.tridon.com.au/downloads/downloadfile.aspx?D=45316

    How to test ECU?

Unlikely its a fried ecu, they are a very rare occurance. Start by making sure you are getting +12v at the ecu where it should be, check the fuses, grounds etc.

    Vaccum take off thread size

ahh, you have a later model 1UZ with the cast alloy fuel rails. I didn't realise the FPR was at the rear, the other ones have it at the front.

Spark Plugs and Gap for NA engine

It doesn't really matter what plugs you use, as long as they are changed at their required intervals. 1.1mm is the stock gap. Stock plugs are Denso Platinums. Most people in Aust use either NGK Plats or Irids, depending on how long they want to go between changing them.

    Vaccum take off thread size

The thread hole at the back is for the brake booster, but not a barbed fitting. You use a banjo bolt, just like the ones on the fuel rails (not sure if its the same size). You'll find most Toyota motors use this setup. The little vacuum port under this is for the heater system. The big...
