    1UZ into E36

The last few weeks have been momentus for the car - engineering certification, AUVIS inspection, and finally registration this morning. The car is 100% legal and we've just taken it for a cruise through the Royal National Park in Sydney. What an amazing feeling to have 5 years of hard work come...

    1UZ into E36

The rest of the engine bay got a tidy up with, some hoses were trimmed to the "correct" length, and I made a hard pipe to run coolant from the turbo to the top of the thermostat housing.

    1UZ into E36

So, I'm using genuine ignition coils from a Lexus ISF (part# 90919-02260) - they slot into the tubes nicely but the fastener hole is slightly off the threads in the rocker cover. I wasn't worried about this as the coils clip firmly onto the top of the spark plugs and need to be pulled firmly to...

Twin Turbo T25 cast iron turbo manifolds

I can imagine there isn't much room around the engine in a Cobra body - but there must be a heap underneath if you can squeeze in twin low mount turbos under each side! In the majority of cars with a turbo 1UZ, the turbo/s are placed in front of the engine due to the positioning of the engine...

    Single turbo 1uz

For both fuel system and ECU, that all depends on what your budget is and what you're trying to achieve. Have a read of this to see where you sit in the scheme of things. Lexus V8 1UZFE Injectors and Upgrades – Lextreme If all you want to do is run the engine, then most entry level aftermarket...

    Spitronics systems

Venus is the engine control module Neptune is the transmission control module https://spitronics.com/ Sounds like it needs a tune or has a problem. Spitronics are a South African - I'm sure if you call or email them, they can recommend a reseller/tuner in your area.

    Electric turbo (one that works)

I'd be interested to know: How much boost does your setup make Has the car been on a dyno and what was the result Does the half turbo, intercooler and piping make any noticeable restriction when you're off boost?

broken BVSV Bi-Metal Vacuum Switching Valve

This is a BVSV (Bi-Metal Vacuum Switching Valve) that inhibits the vacuum to the charcoal canister when the coolant temperature is cold. I struggle to understand why Toyota put things like this on their engines. The solenoid it feeds is controlled by the ECU and it also has an engine temp input...

    Engine has started cutting out

"The engine is cutting out" is a very broad statement, as there are literally dozens of reasons why an engine will cut out - and diagnosis is a process of elimination, working through each potential cause to confirm whether it is (or isn't) the cause. If the fault has been detected by the ECU...

    1uz or 2uz?

Engine swaps, even seemingly straightforward and "bolt in" swaps, always come with complications and added costs. Will the extra cubes really deliver what you're after... and given the improvements that can be found in headers and some tuning, are the cubes necessary? The 1UZ is a strong motor...

1uz-TR7 swap is my thinking correct?

Should be fine - 1UZs have long inlet runners and make good torque down low + the TR7 is a pretty light car.

How do you denote the early and late 1uz?

They are all 1UZ-FE Pre-1995 is early 1995 and onwards is late 1997 added VVTi cylinder heads Upper/lower case doesn't matter - everyone here knows what you're talking about. But, all Toyota engine codes are uppercase

1uz-TR7 swap is my thinking correct?

Hi - with your tire size and diff ratio, this should be your speed chart. KPH = RPM / gear ratio / diff ratio * tyre circumference * 60 / 1000000 MPH = as above * 0.62 Mine is slightly slower (3.69 diff and 245/45R17 tyres) and it drives and cruises just fine.
