1uzfe knock sensor wiring shielding ground point

The test procedure is simple - measure resistance between the KNK input on the ECU to ground. Spec is 1 mega-ohm (MΩ) or more. I'm not a fan of soldering mission critical wiring - even less for heat shrink solder. Barrel crimps are the go!

1uzfe knock sensor wiring shielding ground point

52 = no knock signal to the ECM for 3 engine revolutions when its between 1600-5200rpm Its is either going to be an open or short in the sensor circuit, the sensor itself or the ECM. Shielding only in there to dissipate interference.

    3URFE overheating issues

First, check to see if the front of the radiator is blocked. It won't cost you anything. Second, is the coolant in good condition, no corrosion, and is the system bled (of air) properly? If it's all good, have the cooling system pressure tested first to be 100% sure there are no leaks. External...

    8HP Journey

Anyone considering this swap, fair warning. Buy the gearbox first and then buy your conversion kit second. There are numerous models of 8HP and the model I ordered was an N57. Turns out that the model I ended up getting was an N63. The dipshit who imported it tried to play innocent but I'm sure...

    8HP Journey

Cutting the TCU open with a die grinder required a good deal of patience steady hands but I got it done without any damage to the internals. With all the internals scraped out, the Turbolamik board drops in nicely. After soldering in all terminals, a quick check with the multimeter to...

    1UZ into E36

I wasn't too keen mounting another control stalk, so I went searching for a flat-mount control button that I could convert. I found one from a VZ Commodore that seemed OK but the facia was curved - so I carefully turned it down in a lathe to get it flat. Turns out, it is exactly the same...

1uzfe knock sensor wiring shielding ground point

In the factory wiring, Shield connects to ground on the engine. In most aftermarket ECUs though, Shield Ground comes from the ECU. As long as all your ground points have good contact, it shouldnt matter... but the more ground points you have - the more possibility there is for problems to arise...

Can a 3uz be run with a 1uz non vvti plenum / throttle body location?

Hi Mat - The short answer is no, the manifolds are not interchangable. Both 1UZ non-vvti and 3UZ are 2-piece manifolds with and upper and lower section The upper sections are not interchangeable and the lower sections (that bolt to the cylinder head) are different. Looks like you'll just have...

    engine breathers

The purpose of the breather system is to prevent blow by gas (containing hydrocarbons) leaking into the atmosphere. Hydrocarbons are a major contributor to smog, and long term exposure is known to cause asthma, liver disease, lung disease, and cancer. Despite the environmental and health...

    1UZ Pistons/Connecting Rods

Early rods are thicker and stronger than later models so they may be worth something to someone, someday. Toyota doesn't make these things anymore so IMO keep as much of it as you can.

    a340 loom

The main connector on A340s are all the same, but the pin configuration varies. All have 2 shift solenoids, but some have pressure control or accumulator control solenoids... or both. Some have 2-wire (linear) torque converter solenoids where others use a single-wire (on/off). Some have internal...

    1UZ into E36

Everything is back together now and I'm exploring all the tuning settings that DBW unlocks. Previously, the car was quite sharp on the converter when taking off at normal-medium pace, making it surge. Adjusting the pedal to throttle ratios can make this much better... or much worse! With...

    zf gearbox

Lighter flywheels are great in race cars but not good for the street where you need inertia. If the megasquirt is capable, change the cable throttle out for drive by wire. You can modulate the pedal to throttle ratio, making it less sensitive on small amounts of pedal, and aggressive when you...
