    1UR Engine

I don't see these engine being heavy at all. The specs say with all fluids in the engine and I'm guessing with all ancillaries attached(alternator, A/C etc etc) as well. The SBC is normally rated dry with nothing attached, not even a starter motor or intake. And it's still much heavier. My 1UZ...

Valve Spring Removal Tool On Engine !

I've used the air pressure method on a 5MGE. I cut down an old spark plug and silver soldered an extension onto it and plugged it into a 100psi air supply. Works well. Used a socket and knuckle bar connected to the crank and tied this off with some rope so the crank wouldn't turn. Easy peasy...

injectors maxing out at 6 psi

Brake specific fuel consumption. It's basically the engine efficiency, how much fuel going in compared to how much power going out over time (BSFC is g/kW·h). Don't really know the 1UZ BSFC but if it is say 0.5, for example, and you turbocharge it, the efficeincy will drop slighty to say...

    New Turbo Design by Garrett

Toyota use a variable type turbo on the 4 cylinder 1KD-FTE diesel. By looking at one the other day(work Hilux) it seems to have a PWM servo setup and a simple postion sensor(like on a throttle body) for postion feedback. The 1KZ-FTE has been around for around 5 years or so in Japan(Hilux Surf)...

injectors maxing out at 6 psi

Looks like you have Soarer/SC400 250cc injectors. Was the engine a rear-ish type sump to start with? From a simple online injector program it seems you are making around 320-350flywheel hp using 100%DC and 0.55-0.60 BSFC(for turbo engines) on 250cc/min injectors. Looks like your feeling seems...

    need help with flexplate bolts

UZJ100 Landcruiser V8 auto are the same units if you don't end up finding them. Replaced mine a few months ago and it wasn't hard to get them from my local Toyota dealer. The weren't really pricey either, a few dollars each. And yes, they're a weird M9 size, so you'll need genuine. There are 6...

    Electric supercharging?

I reckon if you whacked a "Hiclone" before and aft then surely this would give even better results :D

Anyone have pics of the Crown 1UZ auto tranny?

Cheers for the photos everyone. That last pic by Peewee looks like just what I need. The extension housing looks near identical to my Cressida unit. Just checked my EPC, same unit, awesome. All I'll need to do is to mount my SP2 sensor adapter plate(like Peewee's unit) and over swap the modified...

Anyone have pics of the Crown 1UZ auto tranny?

Howdy all, Just trying to setup a spare auto tranny for my MX83 Cressida 1UZ conversion. Car is running around fine but reverse gear whines a little bit so I may issues down the track. Currently I'm using a Soarer/SC400 A341E box that I stripped down and convertered to a slipyoke output...

    V8 IS300 swap

Very slick install. Very impressive workmanship. Congrats. Whats the performance like? Also what tranny does it run - newer 5 speed auto?

Good value - Wideband lambda (air fuel ratio) sensing unit

I have one of those units. I built a 2A0 unit with a separate display. Works a treat. Don't recommend the DIY kits unless you're very confident in soldering PCB's and complex one's at that. Took me over 4 hours to build the PCB up. Built another unit for a mate who runs an engine dyno workshop...

ECU Code 12 and strange timing

Awesome dude, so the ECU heavily retards on start hey and stays there. Also the ECU gets confused when it thinks the engine is cranking but is seeing a heap of revs bringing up a code 12?. I'll lock that one into the memory bank. In my setup, I've actually put in a starter relay in the engine...

ECU Code 12 and strange timing

Hi steve, I was thinking about what could actually bring up the code 12. Other than faulty cam sensors and wiring, which you have changed and verified, to me it must be the cam's actual poistion, either one side is out or both. To me the ECU would use one cam for intial reference(and use the...

ECU Code 12 and strange timing

How about a suspect igniter or igniter wiring?. The igniters send feedback to the ECU through the terminal IGf and can force the engine into limp mode. Could you swap the igniters plugs over and see if the fault code changes to 13 instead of 12. Just a thought.

ECU Code 12 and strange timing

Have you checked the shielding cable around the sensor cables through the loom is properly earthed?.
