there was a great deal on the 3urfe but it sold before i could get there.... I had the money in hand too. However now im in the search for a 4.0 1uz vvti motor for my supra, its much more compatible inspite of how COOOL a 3ur would have been.
I believe your right, the reason they "claimed" its 250bhp is because the 300 line (sc300/gs300/supra NA) 3.0 6cylinder was making 220bhp. And those make around 175whp on a dyno.... so yeah unless theres something wrong here I believe what you mean. I think they HAD to claim it made more power...
yeah true, but in my case it doesnt matter to me, I'm keeping mine NA and 4.0 liter vvti on the slushbox getrag 6spd. Just aiming for 300whp or so... we will see.
looks about like my tundra style throttlebody, but its just like any older toyota for the matter that you can just pull it back to rev it up. I'm still sourcing a wrecked sc400 so i can do a complete swap into my supra.
thats the NON vvti... the VVTI came out in 98 to 00 in the 1uz, then after 01 to present or 05 or 06 it was a 3uz. His 1uz is ideal for a non built motor to run boost as those rods are thick as hell, the VVTI sacraficed the strength for more power making it closer to 300 or right at 300bhp so...
thanks for the fast response, that helps a lot. Now what about converting it to a manual, has anyone had any problems with that or do they just use AEM to take care of the transistion.
I was told that all the 98 + and VVTI V8 engines are drive by wire. I own a 01 Tundra and its got a cable throttle body on it. I just found this out when I was jumping off a friends car. Does this mean that the SC400's and LS400's etc are all cable drive? I wanted to know if the SC400 98...
