I am spinning off my questions, started in other threads, into a thread of my own. I have a newly acquired 2004 LX470 2UZ with auto tranny and a non-US H151 5 speed manual transmission. I am not new to Toyotas but I AM new to the 2UZ and H151. i am seeking help in some basic understanding of some of the components of what I have here. The goal is a 2UZ/H151 swap into an old 1966 Land Cruiser FJ45LV.

If you can ID some of these parts and/or give me some insight on things I'll need to know for the swap to the H151 and the swap in tot eh 45LV I'd be very appreciative.

Here are some pics and questions... feel free to comment in any way you feel might help...

First pics are the engine harness, plug to the ECU (I think) alternator harness, wire to the starter and wires to the battery.

What is the blue-ish plug in the pic with the +/- battery connectors?

Next up are pics of some capped/plugged/lines/ports on the engine. Can anyone ID these...?

And here are the "manual" (89661-6A270) and "auto" (89661-60A01) ECUs - in that order along with the key and... immoblizer module(?) that came with the engine.

Hi! There are other people much smarter than I am on this board when it comes to this stuff, But I'll take the simple answers first.
First set of pictures- You have the ECU plugs and the body harness plugs. I see a 3 prong plug that is either Alternator or the AC compressor. The little blue plug with the battery connector, I think is a constant hot to something on the body, mine had it, I just capped it and my engine started without it. The 1UZ and the 2UZ are similar, although the 2UZ more resembles a VVT-I 1UZ.

Second set of pictures- the first image, I see a return fuel line (verify) and in the next image, I see what looks like capped transmission cooler lines. Then I see a Vacuum line in your hand and it likely went to one of the many vacuum switches or controls for the emissions. Next to that pic, is the oil breather tube from the valve cover to the intake or air box, look at pictures online of the 2UZ, it'll become clearer.

The transmissions? I know almost nothing about. No help there. I am using an LS400 engine with it's original Auto trans. I know the manual adapters and clutch setups for the 1UZ to a W58 or an R154 are insanely expensive. Several thousand, by the time I would be done. Hence, the Auto.

The last pic of the ECU's, I am assuming here, but one of those controls the automatic trans and the other is the engine control unit. Also, verify that your small black module is in fact your immobilizer box. Because the older ones that I've seen- don't look anything like that. (verify) If it is in fact the immob box, and you have the key, and the ECU, the immob and the key ALL MATCH, then the only other thing I don't see there, is the transponder ring. It's a little device that sends a signal from the inserted key, over to the immob box. That then, tells the ECU "yes, this is the correct key, start the engine". I believe you have to have the original transponder ring.

However- don't panic. I know that in Camrys, RX350's and other Toyota products, these are all separate items that must match, or it'll never start. On the 2UZ, I THINK and you'll have to verify, that your transponder is inside the key itself and you might be OK. You're going to have to ask a pro or research that yourself. It'll pay to know how they work, later, for all of us. :)

Also, you have to check, but I think that engine is "drive by wire", which means that it has no throttle cable. You'll need a pedal from one of those vehicles to send pedal signals to the throttle body.

I hope that helps and anyone that wants to correct me or help clarify, please do. Thank you all, best of luck to everyone and Happy New Year to all.

Thanks... all good info that gets me headed down the road to understanding.

Question: vac line to emissions stuff... do I NEED that emissions stuff (is it separate from the engine like on the older 2F Land Cruiser engines?)

ECUs: One is for a 2UZ with manual transmission, the other is for one with an auto.

Well, the EGR part of emissions, no. You can block off that stuff and cap any vacuum lines that operated components that you're not going to use. But things like 02 sensors, you need because they tell the ecu how to properly mix the air/fuel. Catalytic converters, you won't need if you can plate your vehicle legally without them.
