Good day,

Hi guys im kim cook newbie here..anyway guys, can i have your advice regarding where to get a car insurance? coz im planning to establish a new one in our town..so guys, i hope i can get any recommendations on what insurance to go through and what are you paying? I have been surfing the net to find a good and affortable insurance which i can use.. i came into http://www.oneshopinsurance.com the cost was ok, but i want to know if there are any more out there who could give out something more affordable. thank you so much.

thanks in advance.

It's hard to say which one is best. It depends on the policy of each company that provides a certain discount to good driver, penalty on bad driver...etc. So far, I've found Mercury Insurance is the best. I have clean record, but it still costs me $910 for full cover annually ($455/premium) on my '95 SC400. My previous '99 Honda Accord 4 cylinders only costs me $400 for full cover annually.

cheap car insurance

The money you are going to pay for car insurance will depend on a number of factors including your driving record, age and credit score. If you want to find a suitable car insurance policy, contact a local independent car insurance agent. This professional will help you to narrow down your options of cheap car insurance in your area.

Cook, I have a question for you:

You joined this forum in 2006, over 7 years ago and you never posted until now. What made you join back then, and why haven't you posted until now? Just curious?

In response to your question, IMO, shopping for insurance on the Internet is worse than buying stuff from eBay - you really don't know what you're going to get, and there's no comeback or protection if you don't like it. Insurance is one of those things that you rarely need, but when you do, you REALLY need a good package.

One of our Super Mod's, Zuffen, is an ex-insurance underwriter in Australia and if he checks this thread, he could share some real wisdom on the topic.

Finding the best/right insurance for you is an interesting venture.

First question is what vehicle are you trying to insure?

Then is it modified or standard.

Some insurer's won't insure modified cars whilst others welcome them.

Then you need to look at your history and how often you will drive the car.

There are insurer's out there who specialise in certain styles of car (say 30 years old+) then some who just insure expensive cars such as Ferraris etc.) whilst some will only insure ""Mum & Dad" cars.

The suggestion to speak with an independent is good and whilst they will most likely add a fee on top of the premium, it is often still cheaper than you could source plus you have the ability to sue them should the policy not work out as it should.

If you make the decision by yourself you can't chase anyone else for the money if you made a bad decision.

AS I said it isn't easy.

Personally I organise my own insurance but I use Australia's biggest specialist motor insurer called Shannon's as they will insure our motley and unusual fleet.
