I'm building another 1UZFE NA engine and am hoping to pick the brains of some of guys to help with best bang for buck mofications / ideas to implement to the build.

This engine is in my 300ZX which will remain tiptronic auto. (using my controller) The current engine has 4 into 1 extractors, mild head porting, heavier valve springs, COP, 317cc injectors and and after market ECU and does go OK but like everyone out there I want a little more out of it.
I have another engine which I'm planning on using as the core for the basis of the new build.

What modifications can I do to build an NA engine that will yeild good power?

At this point in time I haven't thought about a $ figure for a budget.:)

Easiest power gain is start with a VVti. Otherwise a freshen up and a good set of cams with multi throttle bodies or if budgets dont allow throw the lower part of the intake manifold and make up a straight runner unit. After that its bigger valves. Cheers

Seeing as you said build ??
I would use the lightest yet strongest parts to keep rotating and valve assembly at high rpm...
Start with lightweight rods such as http://www.oliverconnectingrods.com/
The lightweight pistons http://www.diamondracing.net/home.asp
or http://www.cp-carrillo.com/
The build the heads with either VVT heads or port / CNC the heads you have...
I built my heads around modified 2JGTE head parts, valves with .020 larger base circle Kelford cams http://www.camshaftshop.co.nz/index.php/1UZ-FE/View-all-products.html Note the shim under bucket cams...
Echo shim less buckets, Brian Crower valve springs, titanium retainers.. For durability chromoly maybe a better option ??
I had to get valve spring shims made up to get desired spring seat pressure..
Can be a head ache sorting out..
It's not a Chevy or Ford where small-block parts are everywhere..
I would aim for 12 to 1 comp and run E85 ??
Would require a good fuel pump and supply though...
Keep in mind latter 1UZ's are 10.5 comp..
With forged assembly and high duration cam it would run 98 pump fuel
with good tune...

The 2J valves are longer and 2mm oversize.. Longer valves helped BIG time setting up clearances...
