Dual pass radiators? Do they cool better?

From what I've been told, yep, the core is out of a late model surf. It seems to be a little thicker, and atleast 3 inches taller then the old V6 radiator. I've got a mate who does all my radiator work, so it wont cost much to convert it to a dual pass setup. I want it to have both hoses...

Dual pass radiators? Do they cool better?

If it was on the back of the radiator i would agree, but I should have mentioned, since I have no room, the fan is mounted on front of the radiator, so it pushes the air through. One benefit of converting the radiator to a dual pass design, is I would loose the long bottom hose which currently...

Dual pass radiators? Do they cool better?

Just noticed one of the straps on my radiator has cracked off one side. Am going to get it fixed next week, but just thought I'd see wether it would be worth getting it converted to a dual pass radiator while they've got it? Heres a pic of my current setup, on the right is the old std. V6...

truck swaps - how did you do cooling? WANT PIcS

I ran the std. V6 radiator in mine for almost a year with a 16" ice thermo fan. It was fine for around town, but would get hot when offroad. The std. radiator also ran smaller hoses than what the lexus has so this was causing some restriction, as well as the mitred joint I had. I ended up...

Miss at low revs - Ended up being one spark plug burned out??? what would cause this?

Had a a miss start in the 4runner last week. It was mainly at lower revs, and would sometimes clean up at higher revs. I kept driving it hoping that it was just a sh!tty bit of fuel, but it never got better. Ended up checking the plugs, and one of them was burnt out. Swapped a new one in and...

Aircon Idle Up for 1UZ 4Runner

Compressor is fine and has been checked.....my first compressor leaked badly, so have had it replaced. The aircon used to work fine at idle with the old V6, but the engine would idle up to just over 1000rpm when the aircon was switched on. All fuses have been checked and are fine. When the...

Aircon Idle Up for 1UZ 4Runner

hmmm.....wonder what makes yours different to run at the lower revs?? We've tried different gas pressures, with no results. The other confusing thing is all the wiring for the AC is currently completley independent of the Lexus wiring (still the stock 4runner wiring). How does the aircon...

Aircon Idle Up for 1UZ 4Runner

I just finished getting aircon put back into my 4runner after having the Lexus V8 fitted for over 2 years......The aircon works great once driving, but doesn't work at idle. I assume this is becuase I have no idle up hooked up. If I manually lift the revs to about 1200rpm the aircon kicks in...

    new chiptorque xede

I'll be interested to see how this goes.......as I'm getting slightly worse economy than that in my 4runner. Out of interest, how much does the Chiptorque xede cost?

    Hilux 1UZFE cooling questions

Originally I used the std. V6 radiator in my 4runner, with 35mm hoses, and two mitred joints off the radiator. I didn't have a proper water temp gauge while running this but it seemed to keep it cool judging by the factory gauge. But since installing a proper water temp gauge and comparing this...

Group buy on headers for 1UZ powered 4runners, Hilux's, Surfs

The difference between the conversions would be the only problem....but surely there can't be that much difference......if they finished up high like the castle hill ones, then the steering shaft should be the only problem???

Group buy on headers for 1UZ powered 4runners, Hilux's, Surfs

I've been keen on getting some decent headers custom made for my 4runner for a while now, but have been holding back becuase of how much they are probably going to cost. So I was thinking lately that there is probably enough 4runners, Hilux's and Surfs running aroung with 1UZ's and std...

ScanGauge II - Anyone used one of these?

Seen a link to this on a Australian 4WD Monthly forum and thought it was pretty cool.....A guy has ordered one, and ended up being $250au.....by the time it gets to OZ. http://www.scangauge.com/ Not sure if it will work on a 1UZ-FE but?? I'm guessing it wont (seems it only suits 96+ models)...

Castle Hill 'block hugger' headers for the Hilux

I'll be keen on a set of these if they fit my 4runner (passenger side would be fine, steering shaft on drivers side will be the problem).....Any idea how much are they asking for them? and some pics of them installed would be great too!!
